And if so, Blame Canada. After months of jumping through hoops in trying to bring the UFC to Vancouver, it may very well be that Dana White and the Fertittas wish they never had. The Director of the Greater Vancouver Regional District Board, Kerry Jang, tells the Toronto Sun that it is highly likely that the the UFC's first trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada may also be its last. The issue at hand, as has been reported for months now, is insurance costs. Vancouver Athletic Commission chair Mirko (coincidentally enough) Mladenovic said that the price of insurance is so high (rumored to be $12 million for 115) that the UFC, despite selling out General Motors Place for the event, will most assuredly make no money.

Damn, that sucks. I respect their standpoint, though. Hopefully the brass at Zuffa do something to remedy this situation.

Exactly, guaranteed you'll get a huge number of people from BC, Alberta, basically most of western canada there for it, i'll be one of them.

Just to clarify, they're not paying $12M to insure the event, they're getting $12M in liability insurance coverage. It's probably costing them over $100,000 though.

To add on to that, they have about 1.5 million for fighter payouts. So let's say the UFC has a deficit of 13.5 million for this event

Then they make:
3 million for gate
At least 250,000 PPV buys at 49.99 each equals....12 497 500
Plus sponsorships which I have no idea how much the UFC pockets.

So the UFC now gets 15.5 million dollars for this event

So they only get to profit 2 million dollars for this event at the very least.

In Vancouver?

Quebec is the only province in Canada that speaks French. The rest of the country, especially anywhere west of Ontario, is purely English. Vancouver has more Japanese speakers than French.

Watch yourself, Jae. i would figure being a military man that you would know that the French speaking provinces are in Quebec, not Vancouver.

I speak French.

ok ok ok ok wooooow lol, first of all it's Québécois. Second of all to correct BlueSkies who tried to correct jae lol, there are no provinces in Québec, Québec is a province by itself as is vancouver. As for the rest you guys are pretty much right, Québec is really the only French province, although there are several communities that do speak french in pretty much every canadian province.

And to correct you, Vancouver is not a province. British Columbia is.

I'm sorry, next time I will add the accent aigu. J'ai étudié le français pour 6 ans

Not to come across as disrespectful, but I speak French, not Québécois. I don't know much by way of Canadian French. Just strictly French, French. I hope you can back me up that they are two different languages. I didn't mean to misspell it or call Québec a province. I was just trying to say that not all Canadians speak French.
