Strikeforce now seems to have the Cavalcante market cornered with it's latest signing-former top Lightweight Gesias "JZ" Cavalcante has signed a 1-year, 4 fight deal with the promotion. Cavalcante, who turns 27 today, is 14-3-1 in his career but has struggled with knee injuries thorughout his career, but word is he's now completely healthy. He's hoping to make his SF debut on August 21.

If he's truly healthy now this is a good place to work towards revitalizing his career. If he can win his first couple fights I could see him getting Melendez or whoever the champ is by his 3rd fight.

Sweet! I can't wait to see him in action again! I really like the SF and Dream fighters mixing it up...not so happy with the M1 guys but whatever...they got in bed with them so they will have to suffer.

Awesome! Strikeforce is just the organization to give Gesias the right type of tune-up fights to shake off the ring rust.

Cavalcante is a beast when hes in good shape, great pickup.

Unfortunately, I give Strikeforce 8-10 months for him to get a fight in.

1 year, 4 fight deal? Strikeforce already have problems giving not only fighters fights, but prospects and solid fighters like Beerbohm, Ribero, Babalu, etc al... Im thinking he only gets 1 fight in 1 year IMO.

Im glad he has signed somewhere, but hopefully he signed for a bit cheaper so he can be much more active under the Strikeforce banner, if he gets paid what I think he would/should be worth in relation to other fighters at his level, I think he only gets 1 fight in with Strikeforce.

Here's hoping JZ can get some fights in.
