Seth Petruzelli (12-4 MMA, 0-2 UFC), a former UFC fighter who rose to fame after famously knocking out Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson at an October 2008 EliteXC show, has rejoined the UFC and meets fellow light heavyweight Ricardo Romero (10-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) next month at UFC 116.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed with Romero's manager, Mike Constantino, that verbal agreements are in place, though bout agreements have not been signed.

Petruzelli initially announced the July 3 bout via Twitter this afternoon.

honestly, that probably would have garnered quite a bit of interest from the fans(mostly casual), and i kind of would have liked to see what would happen in a rematch.

It's going to happen (Petruzelli/Kimbo 2) at some point. Probably not in the UFC, but I'm sure it will happen.

LOL no doubt about it! I was 1/2 joking and 1/2 serious. Especially with the way Kimbo showed improvement. I'd watch it for sure.

I preferred the proposed Romero/Cantwell matchup to this one, but this should be a good scrap. Romero has been pretty impressive lately.

Kimbo vs Petruzelli will never happen again. Kimbo has shown a lot of improvement, and honestly, after watching TUF and seeing Kimbo try to improve himself as a fighter, and to improve his life in general, my heart goes out to him, but Kimbo's done.

As for Seth, I can only hope that his current stint in the UFC works out for him, because I'd like to think he could be a force some day, maybe a gate keeper.

Wasn't Seth supposed to fight Houston Alexander? Did that ever go down?

I'm pretty sure most people would want to see a Petruzelli vs. Kimbo rematch. But, it's definitely not going to happen in the UFC. Maybe after Romero runs through Seth we'll see that rematch in some other company.
