The UFC’s global expansion has been a goal of the promotion for several years. Stretching out into England, German, Australia, and many other areas has kept everyone in the industry on their toes, and now with a Canadian office opening, more expansion is on the way.

UFC president Dana White told MMAWeekly.com on Tuesday in Toronto that they would be "aggressive" and increasing the number of shows they do might be the first step in that.

I wasn't too impressed with the German crowd reception at UFC 99...I was fortunate enough to be there for that show and it was very unpleasant at times to sit through...I hope they are more educated the next time around.

I'm very happy that the UFC is expanding to more shows overseas!

I think Brazil is a very dangerous country for Americans.....more than most think. Japan won't accept the UFC, too much national pride getting in the way, they would easily counter program with a Dream Event. Canada should be easy, Eastern Europe could be tapped I think. China is a very lofty proposal IMO....hard nut to crack.

I don't know about the whole European thing for the UFC, though. I lived in Europe for a number of years and I never really got the sense that any of them cared for MMA all that much. Even as "big" as K-1 is over there it's still not "big". Not even in the Netherlands.

That being said it could have been due to a lack of exposure. I certainly hope MMA sees some success there eventually, though. There are a number of people I met that were wayyy into it. But on the whole it seems most of the countries only care about soccer and drinking beer, lol

Jae, why is Brazil a dangerous country for Americans? I'm completely ignorant to why this could be.

I don't think the gangs of Brazil will launch an all-out attack on a UFC event. Any stray tourists in shitty parts of cities are in danger, but that's quite obvious.

the link wont work for me for some reason. 100 fights a year sounds a bit low doesn't it?? Just in 2010 there have been 103 fights? And we're just shy of the half yr mark. He doesnt mean 100 fight cards does he!!??
