Dana White today gave the estimate for PPV buys for Saturday's UFC 114, courtesy of his crack team of PPV scientists (seriously) and he likes the prediction: 850,000. According to independent estimates, the last PPV to reach 800K was UFC 101.

I think with Rashad and Rampage headlining the ppv, that's a very feasible number to reach...I know, I'm buying it

849,998 to go then. I'll be buying the Yahoo stream either tonight or tomorrow, I've had this one circled since the fight was made official.

At first I was going to order it no doubt then griffin got injured and found out that I work that night so I was leaning towards no. BUT then I got the $20 off coupon from buying the new ufc game so now i'll be buying it.

How many times...........?

Around the 500k mark is much more realistic, although it's likely to be below that as 'Rampage' is the only proven PPV seller on the card.

Dana is rooting for Page to win this fight. Page is a legit PPV draw and is very marketable. if the A-Team is big that's even bigger for Dana---just like Rocky III was for Hulk "Thunder Lips" Hogan and Mr. T. :)

If this pay-per-view sells below 700/750k it will be a failure of so many dimensions. Quinton Jackson is moving into markets beyond MMA and even the most casual MMA fan will tune into seeing him, champion or not. The backup card can be left mediocre, which most people feel this is, but casual and diehard fans will tune in for this main event by itself. TUF 10 was one of the highest rated seasons of TUF, and for the final showdown not to deliver PPV buys would be very odd.

Also, Dana White has been remarkably right about what he expects a buy rate to be. He was right on WEC and UFC 100.

I do wonder how much more inflated those projections would be if Forrest Griffin was still on the card.
