UFC lightweight and former TUF competitor Joe Lauzon responds to a Boston Herald post (via his official blog) that accused him and the rest of his team of abandoning his brother Dan two weeks prior to "The Upgrade's" big fight against Efrain Escudero at UFC 114 on May 29 in Las Vegas. Dan is quoted in the article as being abandoned by his team and contends that he was holding up his end of the bargain while Joe accuses him of dogging it in training camp for every UFC fight.

Interesting. If it's true, and I'd be willing to guess that it is, hopefully Dan uses this as motivation and gets his act together.

Tough love. This may end up being the best thing *for* Dan. Hopefully it becomes a motivational tool for him.

Look at the guys he finished. Dan isn't ready for the UFC and you probably won't see him back for a long time after this fight. Efrain is on a different level.

To be fair, Escudero hasn't exactly fought top competition either.

Most every successful pro fights (for the most part) cans on their way to the top. I don't think the talent gap is as big as some people seem to think.

Efrain may be on a "different level" but that's only because he won Season 8 of the TUF against a pretty weak lineup of fighters, in my opinion. The only "1 up" he has on Lauzon is in the area of common opponents (Cole Miller) who he defeated.

This is what made the Brett Rodgers fighting AA Fedor and Alister so crazy. The guy fought cans who couldn't get past the first rd then obango takes him to rd 2 next thing you know hes fighting top 5 fighters. Promotors slow down give your fighters time to grow.

Yes, Please slow them down more. Let them start off 30-0 before even fighting a decent name. A loss isnt always a bad thing. It shows you that you are not invinceable and it makes you want to work harder. Things like this is why boxing is going down the drain. Of course there will always be outliers in a group but it is a good setup.

Pretty harsh words coming from Joe. Makes me a little more at ease in my picking Efrain. Maybe even a bet is in store!

Your right Obongo Humphrey, Jon Murphy, James Thompson the a top 10 guy in the world then the top guy on the planet then a freak who knocks out K1 champions. He was brought along just right the transition should be the model for all trainers and promotors to follow. No one said 30-0 but 10-0 coming from the minnasota fight scene isn't the same as going 10-0 in the cali fight scene. When those are your three best name then your fighting elite fighters there is a problem. He needed a few Kongos or Nelsons of Brendan Schabs. Not AA Fedor and Alister.

Edit
Sorry for getting a bit off topic

I agree Dan isn't ready for Efrain. I might just being saying that because I'm a die hard Cole Miller fan, and Efrain knocked his ass silly. I doubt he would have won anyways, to be honest.

As for developing fighters, you need to do what Dana is doing with Jones. Let him take fighters around his level to develop an mature...you have to remember that dan isn't that old, he is barely done growing into his body.
