That's the opinion of his next opponent, Kenny Florian. KenFlo notes Maynard will be the biggest lightweight he's ever faced and seems to be a bad matchup on paper, peraps similar to when Florian faced Sherk back at UFC 64.

Gray barely beat Nate Diaz and Kenny is bigger than Frankie. So I don't think he will be able to hold him down for 3 rounds. Anyone know what is Gray's 'walking around' weight?

I could tell Grey was bigger than Edgar, but most UFC lw's are also. I did not realize Grey is bigger than Sherk. Grey looks taller but doesnt appear to have a larger frame or muscles than the muscle shark. If Grey uses his wrestling he may win a ud, but I see a win for Kenflo and the standup advantage going to kenflo. If Grey can hold Kenny down he will win... however Kenflo looks real good recently, and I have not been impressed with Grey recently imo.

This statement completely blew my mind. I have no idea how to make sense of it.

Let me break it down for you:

Nate and Kenny are about the same size with similar BJJ skills. Gray barely beat Nate and was able to hold down Frankie for 3 rounds, which I don't believe he will be able to do with Kenny. I know MMA math doesn't work. Just trying to figure out who wins this match up...

Kenflo is way to technical for Maynard, his jab is starting to look like Penns the way he picked apart Gomi, and as soon as this fight hits the ground Florain will sink in a rear naked choke for the win.

Maynard isnt as good at defending subs, shooting in for a double leg, nor throwing combinations on the feet.

He is however tremendously more powerful, rangier, and physically stronger.

Maynard hasnt had his grappling defense tested lately because hes much better on the feet and he can keep it there. Against Ken flo however, its smarter for him to take it to the ground, im sure we'll get to see him tested there.

I have kenflo winning this....that being said....

I believe Gray will be working his Takedowns and sub defense like it's going out of style, and that he'll try and bang with Kenny until he gets the KO/TKO or until he realizes he can't stand, at which point he takes it down.

Obviously, KenFlo is going to be working his Striking and his TD defense, as his Sub's hardly need work, and his striking has been improving in leaps and bounds. I wouldn't be surprised to learn that KenFlo hasn't even been sparing with guys his own weight, he's probably been dealing with WW's, just so he can get used to the size advantage.

Penn is bigger than Maynard. Maynards like 5'8 walks above 180 when hes not training...Penn is the biggest lightweight Florian has faced.

Maynard's lack of tiny T-Rex arms makes him pretty much automatically a better version of Sherk.

Penn is not bigger than Maynard. BJ is just fatter than him. Maynard definitely has the bigger frame.

Ithink BJ being a smaller WW kind of gives people the impression that he is a small fighter. In fact, he is quite large for a LW.
