Another Strikeforce event. Another counter-programming special from Spike TV and the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Didn't think UFC forgot, did you? They didn't-While Strikeforce hosts a Showtime-televised "St. Louis: Heavy Artillery" card on Saturday from the Scottrade Center, Spike TV airs seven of 2010's best UFC fights as part of a two-and-a-half hour "UFC Ultimate Fights" special that begins at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Featured bouts includes the already-legendary WEC 48 fight between Leonard Garcia and Chan Sung Jung, as well a UFC 111 interim heavyweight title fight between Shane Carwin and Frank Mir. Other bouts slated for the special include Mark Munoz vs. Kendall Grove (UFC 112), Terry Etim vs. Rafael Dos Anjos (UFC 112), Matt Serra vs Frank Trigg (UFC 109), Nate Diaz vs Rory Markham (UFC 111) and Paulo Thiago vs Mike Swick (UFC 109). "Strikeforce St. Louis: Heavy Artillery," which also airs at 10 p.m. ET/PT, features five main-card bouts, including headliners of heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem vs. Brett Rogers and ex-UFC champ Andrei Arlovski vs. former EliteXC champ Antonio Silva.

I like the choices of fights, especially Carwin vs Mir. Spike should blow SF away with higher ratings just by the fact, few people have Shotime imo.

When will Dana White learn that people have DVR? I agree with you, icantthink, but I liked the fights more the first time I saw them. I'll be watching Strikeforce and I'll DVR UFC.

I couldn't imagine the consensus for any hardcore mma fan being any different.

I'm not a Nielsen household so it's not like what I do matters but I'll probably stream SF online and DVR the UFC.

Anyone on this website even matter as far as "ratings" go ?

I want to be a Nielsen household but don't know how to go about throwing my name into the hat. I wish I mattered.

Nielsen Media Research cannot accept volunteers for its ratings service. To be statistically accurate it is essential that our sample be the result of random selection. Every household in the United States has an equal chance of being selected, no matter where it is located. And, the random nature of the sample ensures that people of all backgrounds and all ages can be included. If Nielsen Media Research accepted volunteers, the composition of the sample might be affected. Our clients – broadcast and cable television networks, local television stations and cable systems, program producers and advertisers – use the information we provide to help make decisions about which programs will be on the air. Our customers would not be able to rely on the information to make appropriate decisions.

Since we do pick our sample on a random basis, you do have a chance to become a Nielsen Media Research household. However, it can only happen from our contacting you.

Well that shot my dreams in the ass. As a researcher I should have known better. Random sampling, Josh, random sampling.
