It now appears that the winner of Quinton Jackson vs. Rashad Evans on May 29 at UFC 114 will go to the head of the line of challengers for new UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Mauricio Rua. UFC president Dana White confirmed with the Carmichael Dave Show on Sports 1140 in Sacramento, that the winner gets Shogun first. "The winner of the Rampage Jackson vs. Rashad Evans fight will get the first shot at Shogun," White said via text message to Carmichael Dave. This comes amidst rumors that Randy Couture would be first in line if he beat James Toney when/if that fight happens.

I wonder what Rampage does if he wins. It looked like he completely chickened out of a title shot with Machida for the stint on TUF (even though he said he would never do another TUF after the 7th season). He at least wanted a rematch with Wandy. Im not sure how much he would even be enthused to train for a shogun rematch after what happened in Pride.

I honestly don't think Rampage is into fighting much now mentally. Part of that is because of the movie, some of it may be the personal/legal issues (although the worst of it is now over and done unless he violates probation), and with the movie he may not have been able to have an ideal training camp for Rashad. I think worst-case is Couture still gets the shot if he beats Toney. But I do think Rashad will win so hopefully it's all a moot point. I don't see the Silva rematch happening unless it's catch weight with Wandy at 185 now.

I kind of knew that already, but page can kill 3 birds with one stone Beat his enemy evans. Get a title shot to get his belt and get a rematch With a guy who gave him a beat down What else can possible motivate him
With that note either fighter will be in trouble with the new back to pride days Shogun!!!!!!!!!

Either will be good matches, I really can't see Rampage changing his strategy much, he'll try to land a hook quick and early and Shogun will try and chop him down, one thing that helps Rampage is that Shogun can't use the ropes to offset his balance. Rashad will try to use his wrestling if he's smart and he could give Shogun trouble early but I can't see it happening for five rounds. He's going to be in trouble if he decides to fight him the way he fought Forrest and Machida.

I am not too excited about a rematch with Rampage which I think is the most likely scenario.

Not sure either guy will be able to beat Rua? It will all turn on wheather Page is back into fighting again or just showing up to fight Rashad. If he wins and looks to be back on track....I say he would be the more likley candidate to beat Rua.

No worries. All Machida needs to get back into the title mix is fight Keith Jardine. Once he takes him down, he's propelled right back into the talks.

i don't get how people can say Rampage isnt motivated, he hates Rashad and wants to beat him bad he already did the movie he wanted to do and now this is his way to make money, if Rampage wasn't motivated to fight Rashad he wouldnt be spending his entire training camp over in England at Wolfslair

i'd love to see rampage win the belt back by beating Rua but i'm still not sure how to pick on the fight against Rashad.
