And whose to say Koscheck was faking? Sure that particular knee didn't hit him, but he could have very well been hit with something right before it. Besides, it was an illegal maneuver, no one is going to penalize Kos for something that Daley blatantly was responsible for.

In some ways I feel as if Koschek is somewhat at fault as well.
It is illegal to trash talk an opponent during a bout ( I think it is anyway) and Kos even admitted to doing that before the end of the fight. Daley obviously commited the bigger foul, which is unexcusable. Daley's cut is understandable but Kos should get a smack on the wrist as well. But then you must consider the possibilty the Daley eye gouged Kos first. and perhaps Daley just needs thicker skin considering all the smack he talked beforet he fight.

I have a feeling that there's a lot of trash talk that goes on in the ring that is largely unheard by the ref, or just ignored. This obviously leads to the question of what is the standard for taking disciplinary measures against a fighter who trash talks?

It's interesting to discuss.
I believe a few years back when Liddell was on Conan O' Briens show Conan asked him what the wierdest rule in the UFC was and Liddell said it was the rule that you're not allowed to talk to the opponent during the bout.
I find int interesting as well, that on the last episode of Inside MMA Jake shields and Gilbert Melendez both said Nick Diaz uses trash talking as a strategy against opponents even though the Refs tell him to stop.

Color me shocked that Diaz uses that as a strategy. It's not uncommon for athletes to do this. NFL players do this all the time. I think everyone knows that Sean Avery does this. I'm not as hung up on it as other people are. It doesn't bother me, personally.

That should be the decision of the ref based on the doctor's assessment.

It should be standard procedure that if the fight is stopped because fighter is claiming an injury, that they be evaluated by the doctor. If the doctor finds no sign of injury, then the fighter that faked it should be penalized by DQ or a point deduction.

IF the fighter still claims they have an injury after the doctor assesses there isn't or they cannot tell, then the fighter has to forfeit the fight.

Some people do not realize it, but faking an injury is a serious offense that can change the tide of a fight. There is a reason fighters cannot and should not be able to stop the fight without repercussion.

I think the Hackney/ Yarborough fight was the closest to that ever happening.
Though I would give Brock/Carwin a good chance of that happening.

I think it'd just be funny to see at least once.Just have a guy pick his opponent up and throw him out of the cage.I wonder how the ref would react.

Seriously, Last night while watching I told my friends right after it happened that he was gonna get cut for this. I think it's the right call too.

Seriously, it was assault, and he could theoretically be charged for this.

It would look pathetic if Dana allowed this in the octagon (Dana had no control over what yvel did earlier in his career).

Under no circumstances should Dana be considered stupid for dumping daley.

I really don't understand any other argument...

The only reason Im mad is because Dana is doing very severe consequences to Daley when Yvel is in the UFC. Saying Daley can never fight in the UFC again is stupid when Yvel is in the UFC.

Daley attacked another fighter after the bell clearly rang. You just don't do this, case closed. Yvel has never attacked a fighter after the bell rang, even if he was pissed. The ref you speak of that he attacked, was also the coach/trainer of the guy Yvel was fighting, so that was a bit personal, not justifiable mind you, but something that can be forgiven. However, Daley's actions represents the worst thing a fighter can do in the ring.

Dude, Yvel got DQed for biting someone, they say it compares to the time Mike Tyson but his opponent. Thats a lot worse than someone punching someone after the fight imo.

it doesn't really matter because if daley becomes a big enough draw in the future dana will change his mind anyway.
