Nate Marquardt didn't have to wait too long for the UFC to find him a new opponent, but he will have to wait a little bit longer for the fight to happen. Brazilian fighter Rousimar Palhares is in talks to face Marquardt in Oakland for UFC 117 on August 7.

-------------------Correction to that last story...Marquardt vs. Palhares is possible for August, but show still yet to be determined------------------------

I like this fight much better than I like him vs Sakara and I like Sakara's fight with Rivera much better than him vs Marquardt.

I say everyone wins.

I like Sakara vs Rivera but I'm still iffy on this fight because I would hate to see marquardt suffer back to back losses. Off the top of my head I kinda like Palhares because he can just dive for and gorilla grip your ankle.

I love this match-up. Marquardt may overall be the better fighter, but i think Palhares is going to give him troubles everywhere.

Marquardt is supposed to be a top fighter and you want him to get babied every other fight?

I like this fight it will be hard for nate to stop palhares as he never been stoped before and he took some of dan henderson best shots.Plus a dont think nate will want to hit the mat against palhares a think nate will had to try stick and move to win this one.But i see palhares clinching at some point taking him down and subing him.

These match-ups make a lot more sense to me. I think that Marquardt can give Palhares problems. I'll probably take Palhares early 3rd round sub but I won't count out Marquardt.

Palhares looked real good last fight and is prolly a lot better now. I dont know if Nate will be able to dodge this dudes shot.

It's not the striking game Nate needs to be worried about it's Palhares it's his dangerous ground game. Sonnen didn't even appear to be looking for too many subs, something I think he should incorporate into his impressive ground game, but Palhares will, for sure, be looking for a loose limb.
