Word broke a short time ago that Alessio Sakara has pulled out of his planned UFC 116 fight in July due to the death of his father. He was to have faced Nate Marquardt. No word yet on a replacement.

Shame to hear about his loss. On the bright side though- Maybe they'll get Nate an opponent who is at least a little closer to him in the rankings. I realize he needs a rebound from the Sonnen fight; but a fight against Sakara was a bit of a reach.

Condolences and all that, very sad moment for him, shame to happen during perhaps his biggest fight of his life.

Hope he gets back on track soon

This sucks for him and for me. I love Legionarius, losing a parent is tough. I wish him all the best. I hope he comes back and rips sh*t up!

I was kind of looking forward to seeing what the odds would have been for the fight.

Oh well.

Sad to hear.

Who do you think a possible replacement could be? That's a tough fight to take on a week's notice.

What about "The Crow" He couldnt come back because a replacement had been made for his fight. Now there is an opening and i bet to beat hell that he would take that slot. Even if it is against Nate.

Good call, I was looking forward to seeing him fight before they denied him his license, anyhow.

I hope Sakara is well, my condolences as well.

As for a match up for Nate:
Vitor Belfort anyone!
How about welcoming Jake Shields to the UFC MW Div!
Yushin Okami is coming off a big win, so is Jorge River, and Palhares.
