If nothing else, WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has options.
After a dominating five-round victory over former champion Urijah Faber at this past Saturday's WEC 48 event, UFC president Dana White said he was so impressed with "Junior" that he's already considering where the Brazilian phenom would rank in both the bantamweight and lightweight divisions.
As for the humble Aldo, he'll just sit back and wait to hear what's next.

If he's staying at 145 Gamburyan definitely deserves the next title shot. I hope he doesn't bother with 135, he's big at 145. If he goes up it has to be Aldo/Henderson.

I would rather see Urijah fight Manny then watch Aldo destroy the Anvil.

Is that supposed to be a then or than? Just wondering because those are two completely different scenarios.
I say give him Manny. He destroyed Mike Brown, and I think he poses a stylistic problem if Aldo tries to throw leg kicks like he did against Faber.

I meant 'than' or 'instead of'; you really think Manny poses a stylistic problem for Aldo? How will Manny be able to close the distance when he is even smaller than Faber?

I'm all for Aldo the LW. I've said this on other threads but always prefaced it with "he still has some competition at FW." After Manny, I don't see too much stopping Aldo. Not with definitive wins over Brown and Faber.

I wish people would slow down with anointing fighters like this.
Aldo has one title defense. Let him sink his teeth deep into the division before calling for moves up or down.

I suppose I did anoint him a little quickly but let's be real, he whipped through that division pretty quickly and dispatched of Faber and Brown fairly easily. My motivations were more or less to see what Aldo could do at 155. I think he's an incredibly talented fighter and think he would do fairly well. I have stated in a previous thread that he should stay at 145 for a little but eventually move up to 155.

Featherweight (and bantamweight) are still young divisions. Just a couple years ago Faber and Torres were unbeatable, but as the divisions grow, the talent just gets better.
Because the talent pool's getting much, much deeper in the WEC, one title defense hardly qualifies a fighter as a dominant champion.

I never said he was a dominant champion. All I said was that he's made quick work of most of that division and those who've hung there, it hasn't been close.

I'd rather see him in the UFC fighting BJ Penn, or Kenny Florian, or even Tyson Griffin.

Aldo's not as good as we all think because the fighters he's beating aren't necessarrilly that great. He decimated the greatest fighters of a small division.
Aldo probably could be a top 10 UFC lightweight. But we still don't know how his wrestling fares against an aggressive wrestler or against a superior fighter. We've never seen him on his back.
He's young, let him knock off all the talent the FW division has to offer the way Urijah did and then consider a move. He's one of the fighters that makes me wish so bad that Zuffa would co promote with japan.
