SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Former WEC featherweight champion Mike Brown is back to the drawing board after his second consecutive loss, which came to Manny Gamburyan Saturday at WEC 48.

And though Brown asked to return to the cage as quickly as possible after losing his WEC belt to Jose Aldo this past November, UFC president Dana White learned the former champion is wrestling with personal demons that took a sizable chunk off his training time for this weekend's fight.

The people who tipped him off might surprise you.

Somebody needs to learn the definition of consecutive.

while i respect mike brown, and this might have affected his performance, a KO isn't something you can get better at in camp. I don't think anyone expected him to be this good on his feet, and Mike got caught, it happens. He'll be back, I know he will.

Definitely agreed that Gamburyan's standup was surprisingly effective, but this is exactly the kind of thing a better camp could've prepared Brown for.

Brown's strategy coming in was to use his range and reach advantage to outbox Manny on the feet while using his strength and wrestling to keep the fight standing. Manny's a strong dude, but he's also really short, which gives him an advantage in very tight quarters. Brown just rushed in and left himself open; he didn't stick to the plan.

This wasn't a freakish, one-in-a-thousand knockout resulting from a weak chin. It was a tactical error that could've been corrected with a focused training camp. I don't really blame anyone in Brown's camp for what happened in the fight; homeboy just had too much on his plate.

I'm reasonably confident he'll bounce back. He's too talented with too good of a camp.

Good point. He beat Anthony Morrison at WEC 46, hence not consecutive.

regardless of mental state, Brown looked good in the fight ....well that is until Manny took him out. Anvil's stand up was much improved. He looks great at 145. Cant wait to see him fight again
