SACRAMENTO, Calif. – When UFC president Dana White first mentioned earlier this month that a forthcoming UFC event will likely take place in the war-torn country of Afghanistan, there appeared to be more questions than answers surrounding the logistics of how to pull off such a feat.
Questions still remain, but following today's press conference promoting Saturday's "Aldo vs. Faber" event, White said he's "very confident" the UFC will pull it off.
"We actually want to go right into Afghanistan and put on an event in the middle of all the [expletive]," White said. "It's going to happen. ... Anything can happen if you want it to happen bad enough."

This isn't exactly the safest area to hold a fight. I'm just saying. If I were a fighter, I wouldn't go.

WWE does this almost every year I believe. With that being said I think its great that the UFC is following and putting on a show for people over seas.

I hope that any fighters who go are given a hazard bonus.

I'm also not a fan of the WWE doing it, either.

Great motive: Giving our troops something to look forward to. (plus good pr) Bad idea: Not the time or the place. (It's a war zone) Better idea: Do more shows at military bases in the US or other places that are not current war zones for troops getting back or getting ready to go out. (Since it will cost less they should be able to afford to do more).

I'm glad someone said it. I was also thinking along the lines of "if it's safe enough to host WWE and UFC events in Afghanistan, maybe we could bring some of these troops home to their families, i'm sure they would rather see them than a fight. I won't say anything more about that, though. I'm not gonna engage in a political argument over troop deployment.

I am sure that "insurgents" have no idea what the UFC is or care for that matter. I hope this goes down if for no other reason but to bring up the moral of the troops over there. I dont even care if it is televised. WAR UFC in Afghanastan
