I am 5'7", and I have found a potential sparring partner. He is 5'11" and 5'11". I was wondering if there was any equipment we should have besides gloves and any good drill ideas or general advice.

Shin Guards and head gear so you guys don't hurt each other, it's hard to train if you are injured all the time.

A mouth guard. head guard, some groin protection, safety is important especially if you don't know what you are doing.
