Gegard Mousasi sets lofty goals for himself. So far, he hasn't had any trouble reaching them.

The 24-year-old Mousasi wasn't expected to win Dream's middleweight Grand Prix in 2008 and wasn't expected to win Strikeforce's light heavyweight title in 2009. But he managed both, and as he prepares to defend his Strikeforce belt against Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal on April 17, he says his ultimate goal is to be the heavyweight champion of the world.

But that's a long way off. In an interview with MMAFighting.com, he said that for now, all he's focusing on is Saturday night's fight.

He says he will definitely be fighting Hendo later this year. I can't wait for that one.

The only fight I want to see is Mousasi/Silva in 2011. I think he has better stand-up than Silva, just not the power.

You gotta love mousasi. Regardless of what happens the guy sets no limitations on himself. I love watchin him fight and I wish nothing but good things to come from him.

Maybe Wanderlei, Antonio, Asuerio or Thiago Silva. But there's no way he has better stand up than Anderson. AS probly would get caught with something if he crawled all over the cage with Mousasi like he did with Maia. But otherwise I see the spider dominating Mousasi even a year from now.

As soon as Fedor retires here comes Gegard to take the HW King crown. Even if it is unofficial!

You dream of being a pornstar?

Mousasi can do it man...he's still young, and like he's been saying for over a year now, he's still growing into his body.

mousasi is one of my favorites. i think he can take out king mo, but that is a good test for both of them. gegard hasnt fought anyone as good as lawal imo, and lawal certainly hasnt fought anyone as awesome as gegard

If Gegard can neutralize King Mo's wrestling it's gonna be a short night. I think Lawal is in big trouble

At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in the playground is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no props, and may the mods have mercy on your soul.

gegard is really good on the inside with his punches, but i dont think he has the range game to beat anderson.

I really wanted the UFC to go after Mousasi. To my knowledge Dana hasn't even mentioned him but he has mentioned Shields.
