Just wondering what everyone thinks about Florian. Obviously he is an awesome fighter but is he turning into the Fitch of the Lightweight division???? Do you think that there is any way he will get a title shot again after being dominated by Penn so badly?

Since noone is really f'n with Penn right now, i guess they are all gatekeepers. Florian is a league above everyone else tho IMO.

Unless that gate is on the doorsteps of BJ's home in Hawaii, then I'd say no. Since his debut at the TUF 1 Finale, he's only lost in championship matches. And there's no shame in losing to BJ...I don't think anyone in the world at 155 can beat him, barring some freak injury. I'm not sure a comparison to Fitch is appropriate either, since only 1 of his 13 wins have come via decision. I know that you're trying to say that he can beat everyone without the belt, but I don't consider that a gatekeeper.

if a title shot is on the other side of the gate then yes but i'm fine w/kenny getting another shot. let him fight maynard, edgar (after he loses) or diego if diego is going to fight @ lightweight anymore. If he wins then give him another go at BJ. While that's happening some more of these other lightweights will be working their way up.

if by you mean Gatekeeper as in
Beat Florian = title shot at BJ
like how Beat Fitch = title shot at GSP
then sure gatekeeper
but if you mean gate keeper as in chris lights out lytle then hells no lol

I think Florian is top 10 pound for pound. He is probably top 2 or 3 in the world at 155. If the UFC has any problems finding BJ a contender, just keep giving him Kenny.

This fight just popped into my head when I watched the florian fight today, Nate Diaz vs Kenflo, that is if Diaz is coming back down to 155.

Kenny isnt a gatekeeper. The only guys hes lost to in a long time is Penn. Same with Fitch. How could Fitch be a gatekeeper if St. Pierre is the only one whose beat him in the UFC?
A gatekeeper would be Gonzaga, or Lytle. Guys who are marked as a stepping stone for up and comers. If Fitch and Florian are beating everyone except the champion they are still contenders...

Yeah there's a big difference between a gatekeeper and a guy who is 2nd or 3rd in the division with a dominant champ that no one can beat.
A gatekeeper is a guy who is like a top B level fighter who just can't seem to beat the guys in the top10 but is good enough to separate B from A level fighters.
Kenny is clearly not that guy. That would be someone like Clay Guida IMO.
