K-1
Here's how the new rules are written, via K-1's official web site:Attacking an opponent while holding a neck of an opponent with both hands is considered a foul technique. A fighter is allowed to attack momentarily when grabbing his opponent with one hand. Referee may call a brake during a match if the one handed grab does not lead to an effective attack, and may give a caution or a warning if these ineffective single grabbing continues and or if such actions cause deadlock.
Passive holding or clinching is prohibited. However, the referee can permit a fighter holding or grabbing his opponent with one hand only when it is accompanied by an authorized attack. A caution and a warning may be given to a fighter even when he is holding with one hand if referee considers this single hand grab or clinch is causing a deadlock or that fighter is trying to avoid attacks.

This will make Semmy Schilt a little less dominant.
Somewhat unfortunate.

Overeem must be pretty unhappy with this rule, too. He's got devastating knees in the clinch

Hopefully that'll make him focus more on MMA.
In any case, I don't like this rule. The clinch is an important part of muay thai and striking in general.
People think outlawing clinching makes for more action but really it just means more ref interference. That's one of my big problems with boxing. Instead of separating guys who are clinched let um' punch it out and someone will let go or fall over. Only when it's a total stalemate should the ref intervene.

Well this isn't really the same since currently there is only one strike allowed per clinch. This is ussually ignored so I guess this will make it clear. They had to do this before, guys like Buakaw who make Andy's clinch look like a pre schoolers were able to hold the clinch and kill people the entire fight.

If I remember right K1 max and Grand Prix is kickboxing and K1 Heros is MMA. These rules would be for the Grand Prix and Max I would assume.

They have gotten quite a bit of new talent in recent years. As for what K-1 is, it is a combination of all stand up martial arts. The basic reasoning behind this and most of the other things they do is to try and get rid of Semmy.

I figured it had to do with Overeem since the in the broadcast it was obvious he was not welcome in their ring. But I have noticed Semmy isn't overly like either.

Overeem brings in money, semmy drives alot of people away. One of the most talked about things ever as far as combat sports in Japan was when Badr KO'd him, apperently it was like the most celebrated occurance in a long while hahaha.

I don't like it. It stinks on every level from bias against certain fighters to bias towards japanese martial arts. Muay Thai has always pissed off the japanese ever since they started having mixed striking martial arts competitions because it has proven time and again to be death to Karate. Even in the recent mma world we have seen it. It is not for nothing that Shogun used the most conventional Thai stance of his career in his fight against Machida.
Granted, most of that stuff doesn't matter anymore because everything is quickly blending in the "post-modern" martial arts world. But this move takes away a huge part of striking in fightsports in order to make it more "japanese". Just as with mma, anything that makes a fightsport less like a real fight (minus obvious gentleman's rules that make it a sport) and move like a stylized martial arts competition I am against.
