I wouldn't mind seeing Jones face Thiago Silva next. Follow that up with Lil Nog after he disposes of Griffin. Winner of that fight gets the next title shot after the Rashad/Rampage winner (in all likelihood) or faces the loser of Machida/Shogun.

If lil Nog lost to Jon Jones, his career would be unaffected imo. He only has 1 fight in the UFC which he won. If Jones beats Thiago, I would be pissed, cause Thiago is a really exciting brawler to watch, and Thiago lost to Rashad Machida one more loss, and Thiago Silva gateway status and UFC job could be eliminated.
also, I want Vera to stick around and not get cut by the UFC. Vera will find his fighting spirit again.
This brings me to my problem with the UFC
They cut guys for 2 or 3 losses, and disregard the competition faced usually. The UFC should cut the bottom tier guys, not guys that lose to top contenders or title holders.

I do not believe Jones is even in the UFC's top 10 for 205.

I disagree, but i am curious as to who you have above him. i'm not saying he is in the top 3, but the guy won all 5 of his UFC fights (yes i'm including the Hamill fight as a victory) in very impressive fashion.

Exactly. I have Jones as the #7 LHW right now. He has yet to break into the highest level of the 205 division but he is currently on a 5 fight win streak. the last 3 of them are finishes over very good fighters. i think he's going to get the winner of Lil' Nog and Forrest. Either way he's going to show all the naysayers why they're wrong in his next fight.

he needs to keep climbing the ladder slowly ... one by one. let him accomplish small goals on the way to the top and let him make adjustments and build more confidence as well as building experience

I have to put jones in the top ten for sure. He definatly above Luiz Cane due to Canes last loss. Granted it was to lil nog but its still a loss. Actually if he wasnt already fighting Diabate, I would love to see Bahna vs Bones. Would be a great fight! Now back to Bones and a title shot? I think he needs to fight a top five guy maybe two fo them. before he gets a shot at .........Lyoto Machida of course!!!!

I think a year would be fine. You still have Shogun vs. Dragon, then you have Sugar vs. Rampage and then maybe the winner of those 2 fights meet one another so in the mean time Jon Jones can destroy the likes of Jardine, Wandi, Iceman, Ortiz etc..... Or make it Jones vs. Hammel II just get Jon Jones a title shot quick, NEW YORK baby!
