If James Irvin remains on UFC roster, it won't be at middleweight |

Following Sunday's unfortunate eye injury and TKO loss to Alessio Sakara at UFC on Versus 1, James Irvin's future in the Ultimate Fighting Championship will be up for discussion among the UFC brass.
But if Irvin, who took a legal knuckle to the eye and couldn't continue in the Versus-televised fight, does remain in the UFC, it won't be at middleweight.
Following the event, UFC president Dana White told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) he was shocked by Irvin's frame and face after his first cut to middleweight and that he can't see booking the veteran fighter for another bout at 185 pounds.

Yeah, he didn't look good at all. I didn't see the weigh-ins, but Joe Rogan made it sound as if Irvin looked like a ICU patient. If it was really that dramatic, I have to wonder why the doctors cleared Irvin to fight.

Anybody have a picture of his face from the weigh ins? I also didn't see but thought Rogan made it sound pretty bad

Yeah, he looked horrific at the weigh-ins. If the crypt keeper got a tan and an ugly bad boy tattoo you could barely tell them apart.

I had Sakara from the beginning, watching the weigh ins put it in stone.

I wish I had seen a couple of those pictures before my picks. The ones I saw he didn't look that bad. I wouldn't have picked him after seeing those.

Long layoff after injury + First weight cut at Middleweight + Mile high stadium. 3 reasons any fighter would gas out in a fight. You dont even have to add in Irvins cardio problems in general to see this was an awesomely one-sided fight

I've seen fighters look worse than Irvin did w/ a weight cut.
We just know him from being a good size LHW that used to compete at HW, so seeing him at 185lbs was pretty shocking. He definitely didn't look good, but I think it was over exaggerated how bad he did look. If it was that bad they wouldn't have let him fight or cut that much weight. There's been plenty of times that an athletic commission hasn't let a fighter cut more weight to make the required weight limit.

I almost wish they would cut him for what he did to my avatar! Wah!
If he does go back up to LHW I will still root for the guy and he will stay on my favs list, but I won't be betting my AV and my Parlay on him any more....just too darn inconsistant.

I dont think he looks that bad. Rmember how Frankling used to look when he cut to 185. Sunken cheeks and all. Bum deal for Irvin. I will still root for the guy. Sakaras boxing looked great, he has 3 wins in a row now. Wonder who he gets next?

Lots of guys have sunken cheeks. Irvin is the only recent guy to look like he just got done with chemo and radiation while also fighting AIDS(AIDS comment based on his sickly appearance, not anything about his lifestyle, nor do I think he actually has AIDS)
