A pair of previously reported heavyweights bouts is now official for May 15 with today's official announcement of "Strikeforce St. Louis: Heavy Artillery."
As expected Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem (32-11 MMA, 2-0 SF) meets Brett Rogers (10-1 MMA, 2-1 SF) in the night's headliner, and former UFC champ Andrei Arlovski (15-7 MMA, 0-1 SF) meets former EliteXC title-holder Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva (13-2 MMA, 0-1 SF) in the co-headliner.
Today's release didn't state if Overeem vs. Rogers will be a title fight, and sources close to the competitors today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that an official decision hasn't been made about the championship status of the bout. Strikeforce officials could not be reached for comment.

Sweet Ao and AA on the same card. The HW MMA world is starting to right itself. Rogers is in for a long night against Alistair. Most likely going nighty night before the souding of the bell for the end of the 1st. As for AA i cant wait to see him back in action. Bigfoot too. Damn May is too far away!

Arlovski isn't going to walk all over Silva, Silva almost never loses the first round, he just doesn't have any stamina. I could see Silva winning a decision, if Arlovski can't submit Bigfoot. As for the Overeem fight, Rogers isn't a huge mismatch, Most of Overeem's strengths are negated somewhat by Rogers power and aggression. We just don't know enough about Rogers ground game yet, but Overeem is known to keeps his ground game simple and efficient, I think the longer this fight lasts the more it favors The Demolition Man, but Overeem needs to get that tie up early or he is risking an upset.

This just gave me a reason to order the Premier package with Comcast when I move. I've got to have Showtime for this one.

I think as long as AA can make it out of the first round with Silva and survive an early onslaught (which he hasnt in the past), he will be able to tko Silva in the later rounds with his cardio and furious punching pressure. Similar to what he did against Rothwell. But your right, he would be foolish to sleep on bigfoot.
However, to me the real person who shouldnt be sleeping on their opponent is alistair overate. He isnt fighting a shrunken Kazuyiki Fujita or outmatched James Thompson here, he's fight a huge heavyweight with dynamite in his fists and vicious GnP. How quick people forget how Fedor was getting f'd up on the ground when Rogers got on top of him, and Overeem isnt half the fighter Fedor is imo. Rogers is in for a long night? I think its the other way around.
