Gabriel Gonzaga - "My victory would be the ideal move towards what I want, the title shot. Getting close to it pumps me up. I've been training since 2001 and I'm not afraid of trading strikes with anyone on this planet. Although I have much more experience on the ground, I don't underestimate him there. Man, let's play and see who hits harder and has the best submissions."

Don't make me laugh
If he were smart he would pull guard and sub him out quick
But knowing gonzaga he will trade with him and get knocked out

JDS standup has looked pretty stellar.. but I can't wait to see what someone with heavy hands standing with him in the pocket will look like. JDS swings a bit wide and we haven't really seen his chin tested yet. Nor have we seen him on his back. I think if GG gets him on his back he could easily pull off the W

OK 1st round KO, JDS. I know it's obvious you can't show fear and obvviously he won't say "I'm scared to stand with him" but if he's even thinking about doing anything but get this fight to the ground ASAP I think he's finished.

You really think Gonzaga can "sub him out quick"?????? I don't see it happening. Gonzaga may be a Black Belt in BJJ and dos Santos only a Brown Belt...but I see Santos finishing this fight either place...on their feet or on the ground. For the most part Belt levels mean nothing. "Try to sub him" might have been a better choice of words. Just my opinion of course.

I'm picking Dos Santos until he gets beat, but I could see Gonzaga winning against anybody on the planet, his only flaw is that he doesn't always come with the right game plan or he gets to anxious. I'm expecting a war, it should live up to the hype.

I would be saying the same thing and when the fight starts, clinch up and take it to the ground.

I think it's misleading to say belt levels mean nothing. It's true that lower belts can sometimes beat higher belts. It's also true that who you get your belt from makes a big difference in how respected it is. But they are usually a good indication of skill.

I think belts are an indicator of knowledge of technique, but have little to do with with an MMA match or actual submission ability, Gonzaga hasn't exactly proven himself a submission master, I think that will have very little impact on this match, these are two guys that are going to stand or GNP.

I hope GG can truly test JDS and get him to the ground or something.
But I believe its Juniors time to shine now.

JDS wins standing, Gonzaga on the ground. No doubt.
Gonzaga's reputation for bad gameplanning is sorta inaccurate and unfair. Its not like he brawls with everyone, he took down Werdum, Carwin, Crocop, Mccully, and Marrero... and I have no doubt he will look to take JDS down.

But we haven't even seen JDS grapple ONCE in the UFC.... and his only career loss is an armbar to a nobody. Gonzaga isn't just a black belt... he is a world class black belt. He took 3rd in the mundials as early as 2000..... and JDS didn't take his first BJJ class until 2005.

I'd like to see the whole notion of being "afraid" of this or that drummed out of the sport. I doubt any pro fighter is literally scared of anything their opponent can do. They wouldn't have gotten this far if they were.
I think it's pretty clear that standing and trading with Dos Santos would be dumb. Whether or not it would also be brave should be irrelevant.
