"Randy Couture, he respects my game like I respect his game. He's the best at what he do in his sport; I'm the best at what I do in my sport. We gonna see who has the better style and everybody know it's James Toney. If he tries to throw blow for blow with me, he definitely gonna get knocked out."

Randy's not stupid. He's not going to "throw blow-for-blow" with a world champion boxer. This isn't boxing, James. He's going to take you down and beat on you.

If he wins then ok he was supposed to win, if he looses to James Toney hes going to loose his status and people will write him off.

Clinch, clinch, clinch, clinch...and more clinch. Toney stands no chance if they fight.

toney is confident in his takedown defense saying it would be hard to take him down, and randy would still get ko’d.
LIL NOG VS JAMES TONEY 1ST FIGHT MAKE IT HAPPEN DW. cancel forrest fight

That means nothing, in my opinion. I'd bet my mortgage on Randy being able to take him down at will.

maybe it means in sparring with guys he has good takedown defense. I agree Randy would and could take him down at will and prolly win. I would however like to see LIL NOG box him , cause his boxing is really good in mma, he gotta ill ground game. and I wanna see Toney get a really tough fight 1st. hes being really cocky imo, and i wanna see him get wooped. by lil nog preferably

This is a horrible fight for Toney.
I disagree that this is a lose/lose fight for Randy. Randy gets to go in there and practice takedowns and GnP, for as long as it goes...Randy will probably drag the fight into the third round for a good workout, then finish up with a tko stoppage.

I couldn't imagine a worse fight for Toney, mainly because Couture is just about the smartest fighter out there. He's going to come with the right gameplan as always and try to take Toney down. I'd be surprised if this were Toneys first fight, only because it's a multi-fight deal. If he loses to Couture badly (as I expect), I doubt he would fight again. Then again, it would be detrimental to the UFCs reputation to an extent if Toney did well in MMA as a 41 year old journeyman, so maybe they want him to lose.

if it happens i'll be picking Randy and if Randy really can take Toney down at will then Randy should have no problem winning.
Randy is great w/game plans but i do think he has trouble adjusting his game plan to plan b when a fight isn't going his way.
Toney's hands will probably be faster & harder than what Randy is used to. I'm not so sure about clinching because that puts him so close. If he transistions from a failed take down attempt to the clinch then that could work. I think he'd want to do lots of different kicks & take downs...front kicks to keep Toney away.
I don't think it's a lose-lose for Randy unless he loses :)

You mean if he loses to Toney right? Randy Couture going loose for James Toney sounds sexual.

I think Toney's only chance of really taking Couture is early in the first when their is still space between the 2 of them. Good luck james. You'll need quiet a bit of it if you do fight Randy.

While I'm 99.99% sure that Randy would take Toney down at will and rough him up, there is always a punchers chance, and with a professional boxer like Toney the punchers chance is more of a risk than it was for GSP vs Serra..Randy is no dumbass and would know what to do but all it takes is getting caught once and he would be out. (again I'm sure Randy would win)
It's true though that it is kind of lose lose for Couture..if he wins he beat a boxer and it really isn't nearly as impressive as a win over a credible MMA fighter. And if he gets KO'd then it's kind of a Tim Sylvia vs Ray Mercer situation. Remember how bad that made Tim look?

I dont know if clinching is the best idea against Toney, I know there is a huge difference between clinching in boxing vs clinching in mma, but still boxers are used to clinching / Dirty Boxing. Randy doesnt use very many knees from the clinch, so I think Toney wouldnt feel too far out of his element there. Unless Couture is useing the Clinch to set up immediate takedowns, I dont see clinching as his easiest route to victory...
EDIT:
Also, this may be a lose/lose for Randy's fighting career, But it is a huge Win/Win for Randy's bank account considering his % of PPV buys is one of the highest in the UFC with the fact that a main event like this could quite possibly be the highest grossing PPV.
