Apparently "personal reasons" was not the reason Paulo Filho no-showed Bittetti Combat 6 last night, where he was scheduled to face Yuki Sasaki. He told the TATAME website that it was all about the almighty dollar. "We didn’t have a financial agreement. The purse was too low comparing from what I’m used to receiving and it’s bad for the fighter’s career. [The media] said I’m having problems with drugs and medicines … You can test me and you’ll see … I’m great. I’m not worried with fighting in Brazil anymore. I like the event, Amaury is my friend, but this event doesn’t pay what I deserve ... If someone pays what I deserve, It’ll be my pleasure to beat him up".

That's low. I mean he defintely probably did deserve more but to pull out then go back in, and then pull out again, that's just low. Then to just no show the whole fight period. Dosen't make sense to me for a fight that should be hungry and trying to get back on top and get back to an elite org. Hes won 3 straight, that 4th one plus if it was impressive could of gotten him where he wants to be. If the money was the reason I don't know why he agreed in the 1st place, puts a bad mark on his career that's already not looking to good right now.

I dont believe this.

He cancelled at the last moment, even though he knew what his purse was when he signed the agreement to fight.

he's obviously smarter than everyone else and has insight beyond human comprehension because most people would think doing something like that is totally stupid...little do we know. Good move! I'm sure it will revive your career big time.

Depending on the language in the contract, I'd think Bitetti may be able to sue him for breach of contract.

Filho is overrated and very much of a disappointment, I would hope that he overcomes his addiction or whatever demons he has been battling, it would be tragic to see another young talent fade away.

I agree. He should have thought out his excuse longer before he spewed it out.

The thing is, he really isn't overrated, and that's the most frustrating thing of all. This guy has the capacity to be a top 5 middleweight, but he consistently pisses those chances away. If he hadn't dropped the ball against Sonnen by ******* around with drugs, he could be riding high in the UFC now.

I really dont think they would have no contract that close to fight night. If he signed agreement and then publicly comes out saying he refused to fight because it wasn't enough money that gives them a easy win case. Don't sign the contract if you don't like the money its that simple. This is a new low from Filho and now he will be lucky if anyone will give him another contract.

This wouldn't surprise me. I suppose it's better to pull out of a fight than to fail a drug test?
But either way if he did anything that would cause him to fail then he should have been well aware of that before the night of the fight as well.
Whatever the reason it was low. Paulo should honor his word to fight, no matter what the pay is. Thats what being a fighter is all about.
