Fedor Emelianenko's manager says his fighter will only face Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem after Overeem proves he isn't taking performance enhancers commonly banned from competition.
Overeem has said he wants to face Emelianenko this year. But Overeem first has to pass drug tests adminstered by a third party, Emelianenko's manager, Apy Echtfeld, told mixfight.nl, a Dutch site about mixed martial arts.

This is so weird because everyone knew Fedor was fighting roided out dudes in Pride all the time. I may be wrong but I even seem to remember Fedor stating in an interview once that if people wanted to take that stuff it was on them- basically it was no concern of his and he wasn't intimidated.
So, I'd have to say either the article is false or this is something done by Fedor's management and not Fedor himself. Or maybe Fedor has changed. I honestly don't know.
Without outright accusing Alistair I'd say any suspicions are warranted. If I was Alistair I'd be happy to prove everyone wrong and throw it back in their face. I wouldn't get angry about being tested. I think we can all agree with that if we were in those shoes and clean.

This is kind of unexpected of Fedor. Personally, I'd like to know if Overeem is juicing. But Fedor is supposed to be this fearless destroyer of worlds and devourer of men's souls, why should he be afraid of a little roids?
I'm not suggesting that Fedor is actually scared of Overeem. But this stunt certainly thrusts that possibility into the light, leaving him open for criticism.
I think this is coming from the wrong people. Strikeforce should implement extra tests to prove their champ is clean. Fedor should shut up and fight him no matter what.

MMA reporters are allowed to pursue fighter bashing rumors, and we cant comment on the article honestly. what a messed up world of forums we post in!
I don't know out of the rumors, who uses roids, all I know is the people who ALLEGEDLY flunked tests b4. Examples of fighters who ALLEGEDLY flunked are

Barnett
Bigfoot Silva
The HGH may be invisible to all roid tests mma leagues pursue. If someone knows about hgh testing in mma, post reply
Overeem should give up his title. Has anybody asked Overeem if he really plans to fight in the U.S. and defend the title? has Overeem ever flunked a roid test, or are the rumors based on his long absence from fights where testing is done, and his 30 lbs of muscle he put on. Seems to me he has no plans of returning after 2 years, and talks of fighting Fedor are talks in K-1 or DREAM IMO.

I was watching the Best of Pride show on Spike a couple months ago and they had an Overeem vs Liddell fight on.
Overeem was literally almost half the size he is now. Hmmmm.

Actually as of just a few days ago there is now supposedly reliable HGH testing. Both the NFL and MLB have come out and stated publicly that they're willing to pursue HGH testing for their athletes. Pretty interesting stuff for the world of sports

I think the only way to mainstream MMA further is to make sure all fighters are clean as possible. I don't think we want MMA to become like the scandel ridden MLB.
