After being soundly thrashed by Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic on two days' notice at UFC 110, Anthony "The Hippo" Perosh has been signed to a four-fight deal by the UFC, according to a report on InfiniteMMA. Perosh sports a career record of 10-6, a UFC record of 0-3 (including losses to Jeff Monson and Christian Wellisch in 2006) and victories over a bunch of random Australians.

Don't understand him getting a four fight deal i mean he stepped up on super short notice and out of his weight class so i expected him to get another chance. But he doesnt have the stand up to be competetive IMO

Yeah I'm alittle confused by this. But guess UFC could use another 205er right now.

I think the UFC sees Perosh as a tool to increase its Aussie appeal... George SodaPop will be there poster boy (with good reason) and Perosh will be a Filler.

When the UFC set its sights on England a wave of English fighters got signed, some of which were not exactly UFC caliber.

I dont know the status of MMA or UFC in Aussie (some of the members here may be able to help) but, with the presence of UK fighters on UFC cards, UFC's popularity in England increased rapidly and I see them trying the same business technique in Aussie...

Everyone always complains about the UFC being so cut throat. This is an example of how it goes the other way too. They were in a tough spot, with a very popular (overseas more so) Cro Cop being injured. Perosh stepped up on one days notice, taking a fight he admittedly didn't want and fought his heart out. He had the easy out with the cut, and still wanted to continue.

The UFC respects this, and showed their appreciation. There is nothing wrong with that

ps. just because he has a four fight deal doesnt mean we will see him fight four more times in the UFC

I just thought I would point out just because he signed a 4 fight deal doesn't mean the UFC will keep him on for all 4 fights.

Props to the UFC for throwing this guy a bone! He took a fight aginst a legend on 2 days notice!! He has heart beyond heart. I am sure it wasn't a huge amount of money but nontheless it a four fight deal with the UFC!! He will most likely be used as Aussie/UK draw. But good for Anothny.....tough dude!
