With a dominating victory over what he called "probably the best heavyweight of all time," UFC president Dana White has reiterated an earlier promise and said UFC 110 main-event winner Cain Velasquez is on standby for a title shot.

If the winner of next month's UFC 111 interim-title fight between Frank Mir and Shane Carwin is injured or sidelined, Velasquez instead gets the title with champion Brock Lesnar.

Time will tell, but it could be that beating Nog in 2010 is like beating Mike Tyson in 2005. Velazquez knows inside that he didn't fight prime Nog.

No, but Nog is still definetly a prime fighter, not prime Nog, but prime fighter. Huge win for Cain, he's definetly impressed me. As for Dana's comments, everyone including Dana know who the GOAT is. However it's like Gretter to Mario, two great athletes, but one has the numbers and the ships.

I still think Dos Santos would maul Cain. Just my opinion, but I have Dos Santos down as the next champ.

I completely agree!! I've been saying that for a while now, Dos Santos will be champ by the end of the year!

I'd love to see Cain vs Dos Santos though!

Good fight for sure but Cain wouldn't have to stand with JDS He would likely use his wrestling and take it to the floor. I think Cain could score the TD and gnp his way to victory.

Comments like this, prove to me that Dana thinks Fedor is number 1... He just wont say anything positive about any fighter not under the Zuffa banner.

in response to most people on this thread, Dana didn't get the UFC to where it is by promoting fighters that dont fight for the UFC

Nope, but he should have said "one of the best of all time" considering most fans nowaday's know Fedor holds that spot down.

No, but by putting forth ridiculous statements like this he's not doing the UFC any favors. Dana tends to run his mouth and when he says things like this people realize he might be full of **** when he makes other statements regarding talent outside the UFC.

Dana's way of dealing with not being able to sign Fedor is to deny his existance.
