Honestly there is a countdown clock, its not difficult to make your picks. Its not like it was a set time then they closed it before said time.

im not arguing the fact that i honestly did not pay that much attention to the clock. I'd just like to know why the deadline was a few hours earlier this time cause i can't think of a good reason.

One reason: International Event. If this event were in the USA or Canada, no big deal. But with everywhere else there are crazy start times and time differences that have to be taken into account.

honestly i would have done it the same way, i didnt know until this morning that the fight was on the 21 in australia, i thought the fights would have been over when i woke up this morning.
And with the card being added to the picks section like 3 months ago, how likely is it that the programmer would have caught that ?
thats my take on it.

When I put them in I had trouble finding a definitive start time. I chose to err on the side of caution.The fights have been in the computer for over 3 months.That is plenty of time for all of us to make our picks.

My advice is make all your picks ahead of time and then change as you feel its needed. If the event gets locked early because of time zones and other issues at least you have picks made or only missing last min changes. Maybe not the pick you wish it would have been but at least they are made. This isn't the first time an overseas event was locked early and its done that way because start times change a lot outside of the US and its better to lock early than lock it late and have to remove fights because it didn't get locked in time.

At the time picks were locked there were still 8 hours (I believe) before the start of the event. They were locked around 1 or 2pm EST yesterday and the event didn't start until 10pm EST.

No...it was live. It was an afternoon event in Australia. The main card started at 2pm Australian time.
