Agreed.

Even if they have to buy tickets to watch a playoff game, their cars will either break down on the way to the park or they'll just simply get lost trying to find it.

Well it's official: Twins rockstar closer Joe Nathan is officially done for the season, and IMO his career is probably in jeopardy. He's 35 and he's having majory surgery on his elbow. His chances of coming back probably are not very good, but hopefully he will pitch in a Twins uniform again.

Tommy John, so best case is next year. The Twins fans got some good news too-$184 million & a full no-trade clause will keep Joe Mauer in Minnesota for 8 more years. The extension was announced today.

In other news...IT HAS BEGUN! I of course refer to The Curse.

Article

So much for this being The Year, Take 102 (I think). Try again in 2011.

Scary yet awkward/crazy moment at Twins-Yanks the other day: A foul ball line drive hit by Denard Span hits a fan in the stands. That fan just happened to be his mother. Thankfully she was OK.

Holy crap. The odds on that happening have to be astronomical. Damn near impossible.

ESPN.com is doing a "pick your all-time team" for the Yankees and Red Sox, as part of the pre-game for tonight's season opener. My selections...

Yanks
C - Bill Dickey - close call over Yogi, can't go wrong either way
1B - Lou Gehrig - duh
2B - Tony Lazzeri - those '20s and '30s teams will be well-represented, I expect
3B - Alex Rodriguez - clearly the best player on the list, although he's only been a Yankee for 6 years
SS - Derek Jeter
OF - Mickey Mantle, Joe DiMaggio and Babe Ruth
DH - Yogi, by a nose over Reggie
SP - Whitey Ford, Lefty Gomez, Ron Guidry, and... uh... Spud Chandler, I guess. The Yanks aren't famous for their pitching, are they?
CL - Mariano Rivera, although I was tempted to pick Goose
Manager - Casey Stengel - almost went with Torre

Sox
C - Jason Varitek - had to remind myself that a lot of Pudge Fisk's best years were with Chicago
1B - Jimmie Foxx - even though he actually played more years in Philly
2B - Bobby Doerr - an under-appreciated player, in my experience
3B - Wade Boggs - not the slugger you'd hope for at 3b, but his bat control and strike-zone judgment were legendary; pretty good glove and arm too
SS - Nomar Garciaparra - his heyday was short, only 6 or 7 years, but still...
OF - Ted Williams, Tris Speaker and Carl Yastrzemski - tough decision, after Ted; lots of good hitter to choose from
DH - David Ortiz
SP - Clemens, Pedro, Cy Young and Lefty Grove
CL - Jonathan Papelbon
Manager - Terry Francona - not a lot to choose from, there

Not sure how you can go over Yogi at catcher.

For pitching you have to add Allie Reynolds and Pettitte to the Yankees.

Sorry, I'm not here right now. I'm on my way to Atlanta to pitch in Wednesday's game.
