Breakdown:
There is no way this fight will go five rounds.
I think Carwin has great physical power and explosiveness, but overrall talent goes to Mir, hands down. Carwin has the equalizer in his fists and has a great wrestling base, but Mirs standup is much more fluent and technical. If Carwin wants to win this fight I think he should go after Mir, and not let him pick em apart. I see Carwin shooting in after getting tagged a few times and I think Mir will sub him sometime during the fight.
Mir by Sub

After the Kongo fight I really think Mir is gonna blow through Carwin and might win a rematch vs Lesnar

This should be a pretty easy fight for Mir, he usualy dominates one-dementional guys like Carwin.

carwin KO.
Carwin is huge, explosive, and has a ton of power. capable of a one shot KO. has good wrestling, Mir obviously has the ground game, good technical boxing, he's big but Carwin is bigger.
I see them coming out and exchanging. Carwin dropping mir. mir will scramble. potentially get up. gain his composure, but getted dropped gain thus ending the fight.

IMO: It all hinges on whether or not Mir can get Carwin on the mat before Carwin hits him. I only know two things for sure in this fight- 1) If Carwin hits you, you go down. 2) If Mir gets you onto the ground, you'll likely get subbed. I don't know how Carwin's Chin is, or how good his submission-defense is, or how good his cardio is, nor do i know how much Mir has improved (if at all).....I hope this fight answers some questions about all this.
And I hope Carwin KOs Mir in round 1. Or any round....or any time or anywhere actually.

Carwin is coming off the longest layoff of his entire career, not having faught in over a year. Mir just dominated dangerous striker Cheick Kongo 2 months ago. He's fresher, refocused, and bigger/stronger than he was when he faught Brock at UFC 100. If ring rust is a factor Carwin's in trouble. Im a huge Frank Mir fan but I hope his ego doesn't get in the way and he tries to stand Up with Carwin. Even though he dropped Kongo, Carwin hits harder and is more accurate. If Mir is smart he'll work the ground game and submit him.

Mir is hands down the more polished fighter and definitely reaching full potential after all these years. Carwin has two powerful advantages, the biggest being it's unlikely that Mir is going to be able take him down , the second being those nuts that everybody keep hugging , oops I mean those sledge hammers . If Carwin keeps it standing and doesn't over pursue like Lesner did in the first fight with Mir, he will wear Mir down and eventually Mir will get desperate like he tends to do in defeat .
I look for Mir to keep his hands high, and I look for him to use the clinch and his knees every time the opportunity should arise. If he can withstand the early rush and wear Carwin down that's when technique takes over and that's when Mir will start dropping for leg locks. I think there is an above average chance of Carwin eating a knee if he rushes in too soon.
This fight is as even as any fight I can remember, but I'm going with Mir having the right game plan and finding a way of getting the job done.

I say Frank 1st round TKO. You saw how Gonzaga was hurtin Carwin. I think Mir drops him like he dropped Kongo but finishes him with punches. And IMO Kongo hits just as hard as Carwin.

would really like 2 say Carwin by early KO, but see Mir as the mor rounded fighter, his stand up is mor fluent, his bjj is far superior, and he REALLY wants another go at Lesnar, i see it as Mir by sub in 2nd round, IF Carwin doesnt KO him in round 1 with those HEAVY hands!!!

I think Mir is more likely to knock Carwin out than to sub him. Either is possible... but I think Carwin will be wary of the ground game. He also seems to favor standing up and throwing in general. He showed a potentially bad chin against Gonzaga. Mir has big power and much better technical stand up.

based on??? It takes Kongo a few hits to drop someone it take Carwin to flick you in the forehead and you might wake up next week if you are lucky
