Victorious this weekend at Strikeforce: "Miami" was heavyweight Bobby Lashley, who made the most of his promotion debut by stopping last-minute fill-in Wes Sims in the first round.

Though the former WWE superstar dominated the match from beginning to end (all of two-plus minutes), many questions still remained about the prospects of Lashley's future in the sport.

We may however, have those questions answered sooner rather than later.

SI.com is now reporting that Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker would like to see Lashley take a gigantic step up in competition and face former number one contender and consensus number seven heavyweight, Brett "The Grim" Rogers.

Rogers R1 tko, I think any top HW in SF is prolly a bad match up for Lashley. Like the announcers said last night have him face shane de la saria(sp) who fought on the SF challengers.

right away my thought is that rogers will smash lashley, but theres the x factor of how will rogers look coming off his first loss. he seems motivated and angry about it and that can be a good thing, but a loss can really get in guys heads and you dont know how they will react in the cage next time out until theyre there. thats basically me playing devils advocate, and if i was to bet the farm it would be on rogers, but great wrestlers win mma fights so lashley has a chance here, albeit a small one.

I don't like it there are alot of better options at this point Bobby needs to be brought on slowly or he will be a bust. I'm not sure what kind of money he is making but I get the feeling strikeforce is getting the itch to make money off their investment.

if they feed lashely to rogers its done. unfortunatly they seem to think that shane del rosario is a safe bet too. but he would stomp lashley out also. i dont know who they can get. mike whitehead maybe?

The fact remains that they do tno really need to let Rogers loose on Lashley as Lashley has enough of a name to draw people to the fight anyway. Let him have another mid range fighter (Al Turk will be available soon if he can get a visa!) who can at least take him to the 2nd round.

Yeah but the loss was to Fedor which I am sure he can cope with. Plus he made a good account of himself even though he ended up losing.

Rogers by KO Rd 1.

I actually think with his wrestling, Lashley could make very easy work out of rogers.

But I pray to god Rogers knocks him the F out. Rogers is the fn man and I'd love to see him become a huge name at HW.

I say goodnight Lashley.

He has a chance to take Rogers though. His wreslting is strong and his striking is respectable (but nowere near Bretts caliber).

I think their are better and less steap challenges for Lashley, but I think it is time for Brocks counterpart (in Lashley) to put up or shut up so to speak.
He really needs that breakout win on his record and Rogers would be a heavy name to put on his list. Though I don't think he'lll take him.
Brett round 2 TKO.
