It ended fast and it ended with a bang.
Robbie Lawler was feeling the power and dangerous strikes of Melvin Manhoef, but too much aggression and a perfectly timed counter punch sent the Dutchman crashing to the canvas, a victim of a vicious knockout.
To his credit, Melvin Manhoef approached the fight with Lawler with a much better gameplan that his usual bull rush style. The powerful Dutch striker planted some powerful leg kicks that left Lawler limping, backing up across the cage.
It looked like a completely one sided fight as Manhoef blasted away at Lawler's head and body with his signature punching power. Just as Manhoef went for the kill, Lawler finally threw a big punch, and that's all he needed.

Lawler was getting absolutely wrecked..I honestly think that if the fight had gone another round Lawler would have had to quick (if he didn't end up getting KOed, haha).
Great punch by Lawler though. Dude hits HARD.

agreed, Manhoef was doing exactly what I thought he would do.....he was absolutely destroying Robbie........up until that punch haha, gotta give Lawler credit though, he took advantage of a good opportunity and landed a real heavy shot...Manhoef was out for a good few minutes, pretty sure I saw the smelling salts there to wake him up....Robbie's got some heavy hands

It wasn't the punch that KOed Manhoef, it was the follow up assault. I think that history is going to re-write itself and that "one punch" is going to be what everyone says is what KOed Manhoef. Still, a definite Scott Smith moment for sure. Great fight!

yeah you are def right, the right on the feet stunned him, but that left when he was going down is what put him out for good

I think the secondary punch wasn't neccessary. Manhoef got a little over excited and it cost him. He was crushing Robbie....bad....

that was an amazing fight!!! i cant get over manhoef's inside leg kicks. even though he got KO'd i still think manhoef is an excellent fighter and i hope he stays in strikeforce for a long time. one of the smartest things strikeforce did was was sign manhoef. props to all both fighters and the organization
