Nice job by John Morgan. MMAJunkie's lead reporter attended the season 11 "Ultimate Fighter" media day and caught a matter-of-fact statement by Tito Ortiz about Chuck Liddell. Ortiz, who always seems to be in mocking mode, sounded heartfelt when he said he was happy that Liddell beat alcoholism (1:22 mark) to make it back to the UFC.
"I think [Liddell] had a problem," Ortiz said. "A lot of people go through addiction. I think his deal was he was an alcoholic. He loved to party."
Ortiz claims Liddell's ego got the best of him.

This makes perfect sense to me. I wouldn't want to spread rumors or anything, and I think Tito is out of line to make that public (if indeed it is true), but I've heard that Chuck's fall was due to 'partying to much'. This sounds like a more specific version of that.
However, if it's true (and if Chuck has stopped drinking like he said in an interview) then Tito could be facing the monster of old. I sure hope so anyway

I think a strong comeback from Chuck would be great for the sport. I just don't think his skills have evolved enough to compete at the top. Look at Hughes, great talent but didn't evolve fast enough or at all.

This "former alcoholic" is gonna come back and bash some heads!
WAR CHUCK!
Chucks a champion no matter what. Chuck likes to party, yes, but Liddell always has had serious motivation to train to fight Tito..

Tito should have never let that info out. its too personal and if chuck wanted it to go public he would have let it out himself. thats why i never liked tito. if it is true than im glad that liddell is over it. to baq hes out of his prime. hes not done but hes definitely out of his prime

I don't get Tito really. He's been stopped twice by Liddell. And they were full on ass kickings he barely did anything except get his back once for a couple seconds in their second fight. Why does he do this type of thing he already has no chance at winning lol.

That was in bad taste for tito to do that for sure. He wants to hype the fight......Ii am al for it. But you dont drag stuff like that out. Tito knows he will get smashed by Chuck and this is the only way he knows how to get at him.

He's smart.
This is more than hype though. Hype was all the **** he did with Ken Shamrock/ any other guy he has ever fought. Making someones drinking problem public is just stupid because A) it makes him look like a dick and b) he probably just pissed off Chuck Liddell, which is never a good idea. I'm sure he was already motivated enough before this.

I don't think it's more than hype.
I think Tito is willing to say whatever he has to. He knows who everyone likes and who everyone hates. He also knows that, at this point, he's pretty much non-existent int he title picture. So he's going to do whatever it takes to generate publicity/hype for this fight. That means saying the most absurd/extreme things he can possibly say in order to garner attention.
It's all about the hype. His paycheck gets a little bigger with every pay-per-view purchase.
