"If I stop [Thiago Alves], I don't see how they could deny me a shot at GSP. At that point I would have stopped someone twice who GSP couldn't finish in five rounds, so I think that's a very strong argument for me to get a title shot. We're both fighting for another crack at GSP, so we both have something big that we want. Mentally, he's matured a great deal in that time period. He was pretty young when we fought.... His wrestling defense is much better and he's harder to take down. He's stronger and I think he's matured physically. Maybe he's a little bit slower. We'll see ... I'm a much better athlete than I was a couple years ago. I'm a much improved fighter from when I first fought, and so is he."

Even if Fitch gets a rematch, dont see the outcome being any different. GSP

I still think GSP will vacate the belt after the Hardy fight (if he wins) to pursue the Canadian Olympic Wrestling Team. Based on the comments he made, he sounds much more than 50/50 towards doing it. If he does, it seems that the winner of Fitch/Alves would face someone for the vacant title. If Kos is the "someone", and Fitch wins his fight against Alves, I have no doubt they'd scrap for title.

Why not? Pierce almost denied it.

Alves by KO.

daley hasnt earned a title shot yet even if he beatd kos. i agree with fitch about the the title shot. hes definetly earned it especially if he stops alves. i would like to see fitch and alves fight for the vacant title if GSP gives it up.

seems to me that fitch it kind of looking past alves.
that could be a bad thing.i think fitch just needs to focus at the task at hand.and than cross the GSP bridge WHEN/IF he gets there

If I remember right GSP pulled a groin muscle in the 2nd round or maybe the 3rd in the alves fight. Sorry fitch don't think you have the skill GSP does.

I think it was the 4th that he got injured wasn't it? I still think Fitch's wrestling is going to be the key in this fight. If he can take down Alves and grind out a decision I'd say that's his way to win. I do not think he will be KO'd.
