I still am trying to figure out what you mean by talented? I just looked for five well-rounded fighters from each division, which means I had to omit great one-dimensional fighters like Shinya Aoki, Jake Shields, and Junior Dos Santos (until I see his jiu-jitsu in practice at least).

Hmm... this may be hard to put into words as it was abstract in my mind, though clear.

The quality of their skillsets; how sharpened and dangerous they are with them. And how well they cover up the holes in their game, meshing it into one cohesive killing machine that would do the best against the most type of varying skillsets that are present within the division.

Someone like Lesnar i have lower on the list than most, because i see holes in his stand-up that accurate powerful strikers like Overeem, Dos Santos could eat a hole through. Whilst also being susceptible to bjj guys of high calibre.

Whereas someone like Velasquez is higher on my list because i think he does better against a wider set of people. His strengths may not nearly be as good as lesnars in some areas, but due to his defenses and control i think he would lose against less people than Lesnar. His cohesive killing Autobot of destruction is a more talented version than Lesnar's in my mind.

Even if you disagree with the statement of Cain > Lesnar, did what i say make sense to you?

Aoki you may see as a one dimensional fighter, but i see him as 2 dimensional in a 3 dimensional sport.

Ground, Clinch, Striking

Aoki has tremendous judo, and through his jumping monkey master style of clinch work, he can get almost anyone in his guard, as long as he can get close to them. He doesnt necasasarily need to get a leg takedown to get the fight to the ground. And because the clinch arts(Greco-Judo-Sambo) have fewer masters and far less using them, they are harder to counter against. Less training partners, and more to learn that as a fighter may really only be helpful to you against 1-2 people in the entire division.

I rank Aoki high because he can beat alot of styles, and just becuase he's a Destructive killing machine who wears rainbow stretchy pants that would make My Little Ponies envious: it doesnt mean his style isn't dangerous.

Shields i see being really great at his one style, since his bjj bottom game and top games are ridiculous, but because he doesnt have great takedowns, alot of fighters can keep him on the feet and beat him there, making him less dangerous and thus less talented of a fighter to me.

I see your point about what "talented" means.

Maybe "limited fighter" would be more accurate. Aoki's not going to knock out many fighters, and instead he relies on ground techniques to outlast or submit opponents; if taken out of his limited style, he will lose. I just assumed "talented" had something to do with adapting to any situation and having a chance in any of those situations. I find that "cohesive" fighters are more than able to commit to any situation with positive results. It's a very vague term altogether, and using your definition about having the ability to do well against a wide range of people I just picked five fighters that will never seem woefully out-of-place at any time during a fight.

Need to spread the love before I can give props.
