I voted no. I'm not really a huge fan of changing weight classes unless its to move down. Fight where you're best suited. If you can make a lower weight and maintain your conditioning, you should.
But I can see after some more fights, when the division is truly dry, that he will need to.
But I personally would love a match between him and anderson. Another good match would be him vs Maia or Belfort. Maia has the submissions to catch george if it goes to the ground and Belfort might keep it standing and knock him out. But realistically he'll get an immediate title shot. Super fights are what the fans want, myself included. I was never more excited for a fight than Bj vs Gsp 2 (except maybe Wandy vs Chuck). I think GSP vs Anderson would be a great fight to see. Two of the best in the sport.

i voted no because he isn't even the most dominant WW in UFC history...which he definitely has the talent to own that title. he should create a little more dominance than he has at WW, like 3-4 more defenses, before he thinks about moving up to MW.

I voted No.
And the reason why, is because when a champ moves up, they automatically face the champ. And I have no reason to believe GSP taking on Anderson Silva is a good first step in the division.
If Anderson moves up, I'd consider it a much better move, but if Marquardt inherits the "top dog" title at 185 after that happens then he's obviously one of the guys GSP wouldn't face because of friendships.
I voted the same and was going to post a similar post but Kpro already said it in a much more handsome way!

I voted no, but I meant to vote yes.
Why? Because I want to see at least one division shaken up a bit. I hate this stalemate BS we have going on in the MW, WW and LW divisions. Someone needs to friggin' lose already!

He shouldn't even consider moving up until he gets 3 more title defenses and passes Matt Hughes for consecutive WW title defenses. That's just my opinion though. After Hardy there are at least 3 more fights I wanna see with him at welterweight. Fitch 2, Koscheck 2 especially, Alves 2, Rumble Johnson, Swick even would be awesome. Then he can go where he pleases.

No, he hasn't been as dominant as Silva at MW. He was knocked out by a blown up 155er, he beat another 155er with controversial ending (vasoline) and he should give the boys from AKA a rematch (Kos and Fitch).
He isn't even close to done at 170lbs. imo.
