Although the UFC released him in December, Wilson Gouveia (12-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) is moving back up to light heavyweight, and he plans to work his way back to the octagon.Gouveia failed to make weight for a middleweight fight with Alan Belcher at UFC 107 – the second time he had done so in a three-year, 10-fight stint with the promotion – and he recently told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) he was done trying to cut the extra pounds.

Good move. Add some lean mass and return to 205.

If you read the whole article he says he wants to walk around at 210 and just cut 5 lbs. That will make one of, if not the lightest LHW. He's going to have a real problem with the top tier fighters in that division.

I personally think Wilson should be a 185lb fighter, he just doesn't seem to have the drive or motivation to train for and compete at that level. He's a small 205 lbs, but at least he won't gas I guess...

I really have no sympathy for Wilson, I think he has great skills but he just never really shows em. Best of luck to him in the future tho.

You can no longer survive in the UFC on just raw talent. You must be an elite athlete nowadays to be competitive on this level. Wilson's talented for sure, but he doesn't train up to that level. This, I believe, will allways hold him back.
