They say father knows best, and in the case of Lyoto Machida his father believes the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion must fight Anderson Silva. He commented on such a fight in a recent magazine interview: "There is only one champion, so I believe this fight must happen. It's a professional issue, and I believe they can fight. Deep down, everyone wants to know who is strongest. Friendship is friendship, but they're not amateurs. The eventual winner isn't my concern. What matters to me is how they win, and their strategy. This would be a mental battle."

I was suprised to hear on inside MMA that Vitor is in brazil training with Machida so maybe this talk and the vitor are no coincidence.

I think Anderson would drop Machida just the same as the others, We all seen Shogun bash (Not beat!) him. Anderson would do one better.

Would love to see this happen....

Anderson will be retired from MMA by 2011. This won't end up happening.

Shame.

Anderson would smash Lyoto, and I say this with conviction. This "super fight" between them wont even matter soon b/c Shogun is taking his rightful belt on May 1st.

Wow If this fight were to materialize if the both win their next fights, that would be amazing. Both fighters in their prime. i would love to see it happen. I dont know who I would pick. Silva is so dominant. Lyoto has the style to beat Silva striking.

Id Pick Lyoto, Anderson doesnt utilize leg kicks like Shogun does and because of it i dont think he can close machida's range as effectively. And on the outside i think machida does have the better striking. No one thai clinches machida and no one takes him down.
