Former WEC Lightweight Champion Jamie Varner talks during the WEC 46 post-fight press conference about the effective gamplan Ben Henderson used to unify the 155-pound title via third round submission. "C-4" was trying to explode on the up-and-comer but had no answer for the "Smooth" strategy and left his neck out for a quick tap out. Is Varner trying to take a little something away from the Henderson win with the constant "run" references -- or is it merely a matter of outlining his opponent's strategy and commending him for it?

These are the kinds of statements that make people 'boo' Varner. Its bad enough when fighters say this kind of thing if its true, it's even worse when they are blatantly lying.

Varner was the one shooting takedowns. He went for a choke of his own earlier in the fight. It wasn't like Henderson took him down and subbed him. He caught a guillotine when Varner shot. So who was trying to stand and who was trying to grapple?

And its really a moot point anyway. This is MMA. Not boxing. If Henderson had wanted to grapple, that's not a bad thing. Its a strategy.

Henderson was definitely shying away from exchanges on the feet, but Varner's words didn't do him any justice. Sad, really. I still have a lot of love for Varner but man this past year has been really rough on him. The spotlight may have been a bit much

Its kinda funny that Varner was saying he wanted to bang, yet he tried for a choke in the first round that he didn't want to let go of. I didn't really didn't think that Henderson was shying away, it was a good game plan. He admitted he has to work on his hands, so why try to bang with a guy when you know your going to get the sub eventually.
