To borrow a phrase from Mike Goldberg, "This one's got 'Fireworks' written all over it.

MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has learned that a lightweight scrap between sluggers Jeremy Stephens (16-5 MMA, 4-4 UFC) and Sam Stout (15-5-1 MMA, 4-4 UFC) is in the works for the as-yet-unannounced UFC 113 event in Montreal.

Both parties have verbally agreed to the contest, though bout agreements have yet to be signed.

Stephens is kind of a step down for Stout.....common opponent is Lauzon and he beat Stephens, but lost to Stout. Great fight for the fans though, should be a great standup war.

I think it makes sense stylistically. For fighting Lauzon, Stout has better TDD, but it shouldn't matter in this fight.

right because stout dosnt finish anybody and gets gift decisions, he shouldnt even be in the UFC right now. Your best "bet" of him winning is this fashion, pitter patter decision with no killer instinct, dont "bet" on it.

i wouldn't call any of his victories 'gift' decisions and to say he doesn't belong in the UFC after an amazing performance seems unfounded to me. he always puts on a great show and i look forward to seeing him progress. i can understand if you don't like the guy or if you don't find him exciting (which i do, i find him incredibly fun to watch) but to say he doesn't belong in the UFC after dismantling Lauzon is a little over the top imo.

i would call two of them gifts, spencer the first time i gave spencer the fight 29-28 so whatever and definitely wiman since it was in canada, take his previously 3-4 ufc record and take away those two decisions, thats 1-6 (now 2-6) when you look at it from that perspective he shouldnt be here he just got another chance

i dont hate the guy, its just wasted talent imo, his nickname dosnt describe his hands at all lol

Stout wins this fight because he striking is more technical and can take a good shot aswell. FOTN hopefully

I disagree....Stout tends to be technical until he starts landing consistantly, then he just gets a little too much in the pocket and bangs it out a little. This has been fine in the past because his chin is solid. I just think that Jeremy Stephens is probably the hardest hitting opponent he has had yet, and it could lead to a surprise KO....surprise though because I too feel that Stout will claim a UD victory.
