This great IMO, this fight could really showcase the division
From UFC junkie Report: Mark Hominick Forfeits UFC Contract, Will Fight for WEC Title Posted by UFC Junkie on April 10, 2007 at 2:01 pm ET Mark Hominick (13-6 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will forfeit the remainder of his UFC contract to fight Urijah Faber (18-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) for the World Extreme Cage Fighting featherweight championship, according to The Fight Network.
His title fight with Faber, one of the world’s top ranked 145-pounders, will take place during WEC’s June 3 event in Las Vegas. WEC was recently acquired by Zuffa LLC, the parent company of the UFC.
Since defeating Yves Edwards at UFC 58 and Jorge Gurgel at UFC Fight Night 5, Hominick has fought in the TKO Major League MMA and Ring of Fire organizations. Assuming Hominick was signed to a standard three-fight contract with the UFC, he would have forfeited one remaining fight.
According to The Fight Network:
Hominick, who is coming off a tough loss to TKO Featherweight Champion Hatsu Hioki this past February, has been outspoken about facing WEC Featherweight Champion Urijah Faber (18-1-0).
The WEC offers Hominick what the UFC doesn’t: a 145-pound featherweight division. The Canadian has fought primarily in thAT weight class during his five-year professional MMA career.
Hominick’s WEC debut will take place during the first-ever nationally televised WEC event. The Versus Network will air the the main card from 9 to 11 p.m. ET.

Damn I wanna bet on this fight. Urijah wins this by submission rd.1.
I believe this bout will be more one-sided than people think.

I'm actually going to say Hominick, probably Rd 2 or 3 KO. That has the makings of being the fight of the year though, because they'll both go at a breakneck pace for the entire fight.

For sure. Im pretty sure Hominick is doing this for the glory. He isnt in it for the $$. WEC doesnt pay much more than the UFC BOTTOM going rate (from what i understand). Although Hominick might make a bit more since it will probably be main event fight. And has forgoing his contract with the UFC. He is still under Zufffa, so i dont think its that big of a deal. Same cage, rules, refs. Just different weight class.

I hope to god that Hominick just goes out there and beats Faber's ******* ass. But that will probably happen but Faber will hit an elbow, cut Hominick and win by his usual bullshit cut stoppage.
When the going gets tough, Faber starts cutting.
