"I'm not gonna steer that route. The UFC drug tests the hell out of us. I get randomly drug tested all the time because I'm with the UFC. I'm sure there's a way around everything but that's a lot of stress."

Mir said it would be too much to deal with before a fight. He told Cagewriter that he was incredibly lean with low body fat at UFC 100. After the fight, he immediately ballooned up to 265 pounds. He worked with elite former Strongman contestant Mark Philippi to add the bulk and strength the right way. Mir is hoping to be walking around at 280 pounds by his next fight.

You can't get bigger or gain muscle nowadays without being accused of juicing. These constant allegations are annoying to me. Without concrete evidence, I don't want to hear about it.

Yeah, especially claims made against Golden Glory. Everybody says that Alistair looks way bigger now than in Pride when he fights at Heavyweight now instead of light heavyweight. Its outragious, Im with you that its annoying.

I have to be honest I don't give a damn. Roids pulled baseball from its lowest point if these guys want to risk tomorrow to preform today I don't really care.

This is just sad that some seam to accuse just because someone puts on muscle. I blame baseball for this type of outlook on sports and players/fighters.

Roids didn't save baseball, if anything its tarnished its reputation and have made people have a negative outlook on sports and its players/fighters. You have a lot of great players/fighters that would have been consider some of the greatest players ever to play the game but since roids have been such a huge factor in baseball some consider them cheaters (even the ones that didn't). Plus you have some guys that hold some of the most respected records in baseball that clearly cheated not only themselves, but the fans, and the players that earned those records fairly.

I don't really care how he bulked up and I'm not making any accusations. I'm just glad he didn't look pregnant again.

The big difference is Overeem, went from 220lb to 265lb in such a small space of time and Mir has always been a big HW he's just turned his chub into muscle.
Also Mir has said he hasn't used them and Overeem hasn't, even when he was called out in K-1 he just looked at the table. At this point I have little doubt about what he's been doing.
Mir on the other hand I respect and he has shown what hard work can achieve in a few short months.

I agree with some of your points but Baseball was a mess after the strike and Sosa and Maguire and Bonds blasting baseballs out of the park night after night brought the casual fan back to the game. Everyone new they where doing it and until someone needed a story they we all turned a blind eye to it.

To say that Bonds dosn't deserve his records is foolish to me. The entire Steelers O line in the 70's where on Roids should we take their Super bowl wins from them? If they where on the Juice then you think no other sports figure of that time was? How about Greenies they all did em. Not sure this counts but Doc Ellis throwing a no no on acid? I mean you going to hold it agianst a Porn star for having Fake Tits?

He got up to that weight in 1-2 years, You can gain 40 lbs of muscle in that time if you do a lot of heavy lifting and watching what you eat.

I shared this in another thread but you can easily gain 20-30 pounds of muscle in 3-4 months if you have the right genetics for it. Obviously if you are a "180 pound frame" kind of guy and you want to get to 220 that's harder. But for those of us who look emaciated at 200, it doesn't take much training to put on 20 pounds of muscle. I did it regularly in college and maintained 5% body fat. Mir was nowhere near 5% body fat. He was probably around 15% or maybe more. He is big but he didn't look like Hercules.

Overeem is a pretty big dude and is fairly top heavy...very likely that he did a LOT of lifting to get that but I knew quite a few guys in college that I lifted/played sports with who were African American that just had crazy good genetics. I could put on thickness and muscle very quickly but guys who weren't as strong as me could look like it pretty quick when we worked out together. They just had the right genes. Other guys, African American and Cacausian could look dumpy and still be beasts too, they just had bad genetics. It's not always "drugs" although in sports there are a lot of guys looking for a competitive edge so--sure they are used.

Doesn't matter who does or doesn't or who has or hasn't used them what matters is they cheated to get there. Saying well everyone else did doesn't make it right. Now on the Steelers, a lot of the Steelers from the 70s are dead now due to complication from the very drugs they used to gain that advantage. No matter how you slice it we always come back to the fact that its cheating the player/fighter using them, the fans, and the other players/fighters.

The thing about Al is he weighed in at 220 here in the US, they balooned up to 265+ in a very short time at the age of 28, not to mention the backne, non denial and refusal to fight in the US.

I really don't think it cheating the fans at all. Bigger faster stronger is what everyone wants.
