As if it hadn't been disproved enough times, the argument has taken another hit, because the 8th MMA show in the period of 5 weeks drew a monster buyrate. According to Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription only), UFC 107 did 620,000 buys, blowing away all expectations.

Proving BJ Penn is a big draw IF you think he MIGHT lose. I know all my Pacific Islander friends and even my Pinoy friends were buying that fight. I wonder if Penn has big Asian fan numbers? Not sure. The demographic study on that would be good. I'm a Penn fan from way back but I run into Tongans, Samoans, Hawaiins, Japanese-Americans, Pinoys that are all big BJ fans too. Just curious.

Not trying to make this about 'ethnicity' but truthfully Pac-Man pulls big numbers in the same way as do certain Mexican American fighters....
