"I don't like Jake. I've got nothing for him.... He'll never fight me. He'll never make that kind of money and get that kind of shot because I don't like him.... I don’t want to fight Jake Shields because he has no personality. He’s a boring fighter. And when he got on to CBS, and it was his chance to be a star, he leg humped [Jason "Mayhem" Miller] all night long and killed our ratings. That’s why I don’t want to fight Jake Shields."

Frank Shamrock may just have a point here.

Even my fiance' was yelling at the TV during that fight begging Jake to do something. Aside from Houston/Kimbo that was probably the most frustrating fight I've ever watched.

I guess I'm gonna go against everyone here. I agree he is not the most exciting fighter, but against Mayhem he was going for subs and constantly improving his position on the ground. He did tire out after awhile but Mayhem had the perfect defense against the type of fighter Shields is. If Miller didn't have top notch sub defense, Shields would have finished him off.

you have a point kopower, but shields has 10 finishes by sub and 11 decisions which tells me that a lot of fighters can withstand his sub attempts and his fights end up being "leg humping" for 3 rounds. i have little to no desire to watch him fight and before his fight with mayhem i warned the people at my house that arent big fans of the sport that this might be the time to have a smoke, take a dump, whittle, whatever, to avoid having to watch him in a snoozer.

I thought Shields fight with Miller was great.
I can't believe Frank would come out and say this about a champion, he's kinda been a part of promoting strikeforce as well as an announcer and fighter. Bad move and I've lost some respect for him.

My memory isn't that great so keep that in mind, but I don't remember him going for a lot of subs in that fight. There were a few that Miller defended, but I just remember a lot of trying to improve position and basically laying on him and holding him down. It was clear he knew he had no chance to stand with Miller, and his strategy was to try to hold him down and wait out the decision. I hate that strategy. I love grappling when there are strikes being thrown, or submissions being setup, and attempted but I can't stand watching a guy who's only goal is to get into a dominate position and hold it round after round.

p.s. let's no forget..Miller almost pulled off a sub. attempt on Shields that almost ended the night for Shields..only if he woulda had a few more seconds..that's better than any sub. attemps that Shields tried to do that night..which he ended up lettin go..Miller probably pulled off the better sumb. attempt that night...

shamrock was a little disrespectful, but hes right. hendo's one of my fav fighters and i would want nothing more than to see him jump in the air and land a big shot on shields like he did to that idiot Bisbing. champions should be dynamic fighters not leg humpers.
