“Her agent and I have been in dialogue,” he added. “We had talked about having her fight again, but not fighting on Dec. 19. She’s going to acting classes, I heard, and doing a lot of weapons training, doing what they do.”The Strikeforce executive has followed this route before. The promotion’s other crossover star, Cung Le, relinquished his middleweight title in September when a blossoming movie career overtook his fighting responsibilities. Le will return to the cage on Dec. 19 after a 21-month absence.

If the link doesnt have hot photos of her during weapons training then I dont care to click it...

She was the face of womens mma and after one loss is ready to discard it for acting... Womens mma is still strugling to gain recognition, the loss of there most recognizable name will be a huge setback... (I know the article doesnt say she is quitting mma... )

I think it's a step in the right direction, to be honest. If women's MMA wants to be taken seriously it needs to be represented by women who take it seriously themselves, not girls who are considered attractive but can't even be bothered to cut weight for a fair fight.

I think she made women's MMA look really, really unprofessional. Consistently missing weight by a pretty big margin is showing complete and utter lack of respect for your opponent, your employer, and the sport itself. I really didn't care for her at all myself.

She loved beating on much smaller women. She must not be a an of adversity. Her acting career will be as successful as Tito Ortiz's, if anyone remembers Tito's acting career.

Well, honestly, she's already miles ahead of him...a Soderbergh film vs Zombie Strippers isn't much of a comparison.

as most of you know, i never cared for Gina. i never really cared for women's MMA for that matter. if she wants to act so be it, women's MMA really wasn't going to hit the mainstream the way it's male counterpoint has. i personally could care less but i guess it sucks for the proponents of women's MMA,

haha. that's funny.

On the real though, I think it's great that the fighters are also looking for other revenue streams. You can't fight forever, it hurts, and you constantly get injured. You are up at 4:45 am to train, then if you aren't a HUGE draw, you go to work at 7 or 8, finish work, go back and train for a few hours, go to bed and do it again. IT'S A GRIND. The fans that cry about people making MONEY doing something easier....must not have to do that grind OR are just sour grapes wishing that they could get a gig like that which would pay them six figures a gig instead of hundreds or a few thousand per gig.

Fighitng is no picnic for most----even for the "face" of women's MMA. You have to parlay your talent into as many avenues as possible. Fighters know that if they don't win enough they get thrown out on the scrap heap so you have to strike while the iron is hot and people are interested. Gina loses a few more fights she becomes irrelevant----but if she can get money for doing less while she's still a "hot commodity" she could set herself up for life.

Sad but honest....

As long as people still get a few hot pics of Gina every month or so....does anyone really care???

I mean, who really cares about womens mma....or any other sport for that matter.

Sorry to be the one to say it.
