Changed from a victory to a no contest. What a joke. Doctors say that the level of THC in his body "numbed the pain." Give me a break. This rematch MUST happen now.

I think it's hilarious... Diaz's own fault IMO... funny how he says he doesnt normally abuse drugs lol...

Does this mean that our records and points/bets will change to accomidate?

How can he say he doesn't do it normally if his test was a "175." He either tokes up a lot of he was stoned when he fought. Which in my opinion wouldn't really matter anyway cuz weed doesn't numb your pain or enhance your performance. But hilarious nonetheless.

This is exactly the kind of crap I was afraid of. The laws in every state have lessened in the last couple years 11 states have at least a medical bill. More than 30 states have openly debated (and some have had elections regarding) full legalization. It is in a very grey area in the US right now. If the fight was in Japan he never would've been tested for it, and it is totally illegal there. I realize it is illegal, but only kind of- it's decrim in Nevada. The only reason I can see for it is it was a substance he was told was banned and he tested positive for it, so.....

He'll probly win the rematch, especially now that it will be under unified rules...

If anything it would hurt his performance because he would be thinking of a quesadilla with funions and an orange soda.

to take that win away from him is a bit much IMO, but you reap what you sow and if his levels were as high as they made them out to be he was obviously doing plenty of smoking. either way though smoking pot wont help you secure a sub like that, he earned that victory and its a shame its come to this

Definitley a shame... I used to smoke grass all the time, and I've never looked at it pain killer... I don't know where people get that idea, and if it is it's no stronger than ibuprofen/tylenol, I guess I don't know if those are banned as well??

I can't read the article at work (damn IT people), was it the NSAC that over turned it or Pride officials or what?

It's too bad... I think that is easily a candidate for fight of the year, and this just tarnishes the whole thing. I would like to know how they derive what point the THC in the blood stream acts as such a tide-turning pain killer...

And further more I'd hae to assume that means the governing body is accusing him of being under the influence during the fight? WTF, That's rediculous... Have one of those get stoned and go spar someone with comparable hand speed / power to Gomi, lol...

This is comparable to people demonizing MMA while they have no idea what it intails and is all about.

I was waiting for this to happen. It sucks. I've been a Diaz fan since I saw him tap out Jeremy Jackson with a beautiful armbar. I know a lot of people don't like his attitude and stuff, but I think he's funny as hell.

The result shouldn't have been changed. Weed isn't steriods or anything. They should have just fined him, let him serve his suspension, and let that be that.

Hope Diaz wins Gomi's belt in the rematch. But I doubt Gomi is going to get that gassed that early next time.

Well, I personally think it is a stupid decision.

However, (without reading the article) I will say that I understand the decision to the extent that you have to enforce any rules. As soon as you start giving exceptions, then all hell breaks loose.

Another thing, and I have no evidence for it (I never looked for any) but some substances are banned, not because they are performance enhancers themselves, but can mask the presence of bona fide performance enhancers (or byproducts) in urine.

One example of this is the hair growing drug (propecia) can mask various tests for not only performance enhancing drugs, but also cancer.

So despite the fact that the NC ruling issued seems stupid, there might be more to the story.

Perhaps if Diaz wasnt such a drug abusing scum bag this wouldnt have happened, but he is a scum bag, and its biting him on the ass!

This is a fair and just punishment, and Im so glad it happened to Diaz too
