Strikeforce's recently crowned middleweight champion, Jake Shields, stated he considers Henderson "a legend" and would "happily give him a shot at my belt."
Shields posted the comments on his personal Twitter account.
"Hendo (has) always been one of my [favorite] fighters," Shields wrote. "Huge signing for Strikeforce."

Jake Shields then went on to say that he is keeping Hendo's belt warm for him and will gladly give it to him right after they fight...

Wow, feelin the LOVE round here! Didn't realize there were so many avid Shields supporters here. lol
I think this fight will be closer then most are giving it credit for. But I'll be settling in on Hendo via Un Dec for sure.

Come on, I mean, what IS he going to say? He has accused a many of ducking him. Now, he can't appear to be doing the same. Though it might be better for his health.

I mean Shields may come across a bit cocky and act rather a**holeish sometimes, but at least the man is giving respect to Hendo who deserves it. And as someone said earlier, the fight may be closer than some people believe. To me it all depends on how fast if at all Shields will be able to somehow get the fight to the ground. If he is unable to somehow get the fight to the ground (I would suggest pulling guard even), then it is pretty obvious that Hendo will seriously hurt him. Put he is somehow able to get Hendo to the ground then the fight may be interesting, but I realistically don't see how Shields can beat Hendo. Mayhem has a better chance of defeating Hendo is my mind. Hendo is just a horrible matchup for Shields.

Yeah, you're talking about a guy that competes at the highest level at 205 fighting a guy that is a natural welterweight.
I like Shields and I think he's a great welterweight but he's got no business in the cage with Hendo. The man has a victory over Big Nog for christs sake! I genuinely fear for Shields health in this one. His head could end up in the third row.
If you thought Bisping was K.O.'d in stunning fashion just wait for this fight to happen.

I think that people like Dana should listen to not only their fighters but the competitions fighters.....if Gegard, and Shields both want to fight a man there is a good reason for it! I really think Dan could end up with 2 belts again!

Yeah I hate Jake Shields, but he is really good at what he does in a Gracie sort of way. I want to see this fight, I'm interested in how he does against a top ten guy and now we'll get to see him fight a top 5 guy. Hendo isn't a great stand-up guy either but he is one hell of a puncher. Edge in the stand-up Hendo. They have a totally different style of wrestling but Hendo was a world class Greco-Roman wrestler and he is the bigger stronger fighter. Edge in wrestling Hendo. We can make the case that Shields is the better submissions guy, but Hendo has solid defense and Shields really is probably going to be looking for submission attempts off the fence or off his back. I think Shields best chance to win is by a guillotine or rear naked choke. My pick Hendo by unanimous decision.
