Although the original plan was for Matt Hughes to next fight in UFC in February, possibly at UFC 109 or 110, he now says his next fight will be April 10. No UFC event is set for that date, so presumably that's UFC 112. Hughes hasn't fought since beating Matt Serra in July.

With the clock ticking on his career, I'm surprised at the 10-month layoff.

Partly beyond his control, allt he other early '10 cards filled up so fast. But with UFC suffering from the Curse Of Les Boulez, he might get to fight again sooner.

Yeah, beyond his control to an extent, I'm sure...but I guarantee that if he told Joe Silva (and/or Dana) that he wanted to fight ASAP, he'd be on another card a lot sooner than 10 months.

If hughes wants to fight he could make it happen within two months. Im beginning to wonder if he even considers himself a contender anymore or if he is just taking fights at his own leisure simply because he enjoys the competition. I think him fighting renzo is great, and i look forward to that matchup, but if he wanted to get back in the mix i cant help but think the best way would be to take on one the aka guys.
