With this decade now coming to an end, who would be your fighter of the decade and why?
It can be based on whatever you want it to be... Influence, popularity, dominance, attitude...
Lots of names to choose from...Tito, Coleman, Hughes, Sakuraba, Mirko, Chuck, Randy, Forest, Wanderlei, Anderson, Nog, BJ etc.
In the end I went for....Fedor
Reason: Since his fight with Cro Cop he has been my favoraite fighter. He has been number 1 for nearly 8 years, undefeated since 2000, and as humble and respectful as ever. A perfect ambassador for the sport of MMA.
So who is your fighter of the decade?

In my opinion, this can not be argued. The question should be, "Who are the #2 and #3 fighters of the decade?"

I mean honestly... who the hell else would deserve #1?
If you went for 2005-2010 you could make an argument for GSP or Anderson Silva, but if you're going the whole decade there is absolutely 0 question that it is Fedor. Even Fedor haters would probably agree.

#2 - Wanderlei - Seriously, is there any fighter tha tpumped you more than him? Wandy stare down is the baddest ever, I started to love MMA watching this guy fighting, just awesome..
#3 - Big Nog / Cro Cop- I remember, that one day I read an article about Big Nog at ufc.com, that said "You shoot Big Nog with a shootgun, but at the end of the day, he'll still end armbarring you". Simple the biggest warrior that ever stepped at the octagon/ring. Cro Cop, this guy was the fighter that I always got pumped to watch for, looking for that devasting high kicks. Epic battles with Wandy, Fedor, Barnett, Big Nog.IMO he needs to retire, his prime already past, but I think he should be proud for what he made for the MMA world.
5# Matt Hughes - Love or hate, Matt Hughes was one of the best ever, the way he used to dismantle his opponents was just priceless.
Oh, #1, Fedor, yeah, no question about it..

I think that might be what I would have to go with, but BJ, Wandy, Big Nog, and Chuck are all hard to leave out of the conversation for me. There are really so many guys that have been just awesome over the last 10 years.

fedor hughes wandy chuck anderson gsp nog randy cc saku
in that order, hughes was the 2nd most dominant fighter IMO but its getting easier to forget about with the long layoffs and losses recently, but over a 10 year span he has to be #2 IMO.

In the past 10 years. Damn it's hard to say because 10 years can change a fighters posistion drasticly. But if you're going for consistancy of who has kept their influence while staying on top I don't think you can argue too strongly against Fedor. I think Sakuraba has to be high on the list as well. He's such a unique fighter who had the support of his whole country behind him. He had a legendary bout with Royce Gracie and was truely the first man to take away the "Gracie" mystique since the creation of the UFC. Even when guys like Mario Sperry and Wallid Ismail were getting publicity for their victories over the Gracies, they themselves were still products of "Gracie" training. Sakuraba was something entirely different and a personality that no one will ever be able to replicate.
GSP is still too early to be on their for "A decade",but if he can keep it up for a few more years he will be their too.
Chuck,Wandy,Hughes, and Anderson should all be considered their too.
